Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2017 - Round 34

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Calgarypuck's 5th Annual Prospect Ranking Poll Series

Here are the last 5 years for a quick glance ...
Prospect Rankings
2013 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ospect+Ranking
2014 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...highlight=poll
2015 - http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=148495

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Who will join Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk as the top prospect. Previous four have gone straight to the show.

Don't know which Russian to take, but both clearly have more potential than Schneider (and a fair amount of players higher than them on the list). Going with Karnaukhov because he's already played in NA before so the interest is there and he's younger than Rafikov.

Went with Karnaukhov. Having played in NA, he has a chance of wanting to come back and has higher potential than Schneider.

For fun, here's a list of every Russian to ever wear the Flaming C:

German Titov (345 GP)
Sergei Makarov (297 GP)
Valeri Bure (256 GP)
Oleg Saprykin (187 GP)
Igor Kravchuk (115 GP)
Andrei Nazarov (112 GP)
Anton Babchuk (104 GP)
Pavel Torgayev (50 GP)
Andrei Zyuzin (49 GP)
Sergei Pryakhin (46 GP)
Andrei Trefilov (22 GP)
Sergei Krivokrasov (12 GP)
Nikolai Borschevsky (8 GP)

Not a lot of historical precedent for exciting Russian prospects.

Fun fact: I played minor hockey with Pavel Torgayev's son and initially thought he was full of **** when he said his dad played for the Flames. Yeah sure kid!

No to Russians who defect/never play in North America. While the team technically holds their rights, there's almost no point in considering them part of the organization going forward. I'll be shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, if they ever play in the NHL for the Flames.

Schneider, and then I'm done voting.

I would be a lot more shocked if Schneider plays a game in the NHL.

Let's face it, this far down in the pecking order it will be a shock if any of the last 5-6 prospects or so plays a game in the NHL for the Flames or any other team.

Rafikov should be last. Has no interest in coming over and wasn't even aware when he was drafted.
