They have the Stampede parade every year too, and who marches in that always makes the news as well. I don't see why this would be different.

Last year (I believe) was the first time that the Flames had representation there. This will be the first time that a player has marched. Go Sven and Mikael! So proud of my Flames!

2 players is good, hopefully that number continues to grow each year. I guess we had zero players there last year, so this is definitely great to see.

Are those inferno players or ice girls with them?

I'm guessing ice, since they're wearing the flaming c.

One is a millionaire and the other is right behind him (no pride pun intended)..

Most pro hockey players have bomb-ass, super hot girlfriends/wives.

Yeah, that should have read "props to professional athletes for being rich professional athletes". Cause that's what you get pretty much automatically when you're a professional athlete.

It explains his referring to Portland as his second home.

Yah, but athletes usually get the hot girls. You don't see the mathlete with the hot cheerleader girlfriend in high school, that's for sure.

You guys seem to be acting like you're just discovering this phenomenon which, unless you're 8 years old, should not be a surprise that good looking rich athletes snag babes.

As an aside and I'm sure I'll get roasted for this, but was Brian Burke's video slightly odd to anyone else? Not the topic, but the fact he filmed himself explaining why he wasnt going to do something. Seems pretty self important. Seems like a good guy and head is in the right place, and love him with the flames but stuff like that seems more like it's about him the star rather than it is about the cause or what he's trying to represent. And the tie. Weird.

I didn't get any of that from his video. It seemed strange that he made the video as opposed to Ken King, given that it was discussing all of the Calgary S&E teams participating. But Burke probably wanted to send the message because it's important to him personally.

I don't think you need to be "roasted" - but I think you're reading more into this than is there.

I simply got the impression it was something Burke wanted to attend but couldn't, and wanted to express his disappointment about that while echoing he felt it was important.

I think he just feels a responsibility to support the cause. He's pretty particular about a few things in how his team is run, and this is certainly one of them. If he did this about every event in Cgy he didn't attend, certainly the might get a bit much. This old article gives us a glimpse of how involved BB truly is in this area:

Several of the Inferno were at Pride as well, but that wasn't them.
