Yuck. Is there any room for young guys now? I may be paying more attention to the Glens Falls flames this year.

Wow, very impressed with this signing. RW is something we still desperately needed to address and to get an asset for free that could end up easily being top 6 is pretty awesome.

He also played less games in the later seasons, and then was dealt to the Wild in the Burns deal. If you pro-rate his stats in the lockout shortened season he paced himself for 46 points. So aside from last year he's always been a 40 point guy (whether with the Sharks or Wild).

Frick, 1987 birthday is old now, that's it, Crosby is over the hill!

The point is he's not part of the solution going forward. He will be in and out.

So something like this I guess:
Glencross-backlund-hudler
Raymond-stajan-setoguchi
Colborne-Monahan-D. Jones
Byron-bouma-mcgrattan/Bollig
Unless there are some trades/injuries I don't see much room for baertschi or gaudreau for the opening night right now.

Ya seems like the youngsters are all going back to Jr or the A. Which is fine by me, let them grow a bit more together with the baby flames.
I like this signing and who knows he could provide some good leadership as an experienced NHLer who really isn't that old.

The only way for Baertschi and Gaudreau to be top six forwards in the league is to beat out guys like Setoguchi at camp and throughout the season. Depth can only ever be a good thing.

True, but it impacts Hudler and/or Raymond, who may play LW instead of RW now. Which does affect Gaudreau.

Honestly, that would be great news. As it stands we have something like this:
LW
Hudler
Glencross
Raymond
Gaudreau
Bollig
C
Backlund
Monahan
Stajan
Bouma
Byron
RW
Jones
Colborne (based on his 2nd half)
McGrattan
Hudler and Raymond can both play RW. But I'd love to have at least 1 spot open for Baertschi, Gaudreau, or Bennett to challenge for. David Jones is the obvious candidate.

I believe in the Pony Power

He will get good ice time and PP and probably have s good year. His contract will make him extremely tradable for a second or third. Good move

I like it. Top 9 RW looking to regain his scoring touch. For those who want the kids to make the team this year, Treliving has never been shy to say he prefers the kids to over ripen on the farm or back in JR. Everything has to be earned. I like setoguchi, I think he'll fit in well.

If I'm spending another $8600.00 on tickets I want to watch the best most exciting players on this team, I don't care if they are 18 or 28, if they are better they should be here... period.
That "earned" attitude is a big pile of crap, top players worked their asses off to play in the NHL. Until I see a change Treliving/Burke is the reason I won't buy another ticket to the flames.

Pretty low risk. I have pretty low expectations.
Might be slightly more effective than galiardi, but he's probably not going to be putting up any significant numbers.
30-35 points.

And if he is outplayed by someone younger he can be waived easily. A 1yr deal is moveable.
Unbelievable that people still want to just hand out spots to rookies. C

So T@T all future moves by the GM should be run past you and your $8600 receipt? What a great way to build and develop a team!

Jeez, tell us how you really feel!
Earning a roster spot is not a pile of crap. You answered you own statement in the very same post, the best player will play on the team whether they're 18 or 28, they have to earn it to be the best player on the ice. IF someone bumps Seotguchi from the roster then @750k for one year its no harm no foul.
Did Hall or RNH or Yakupov earn their spots on the roster? How did that turn out?

So you want Flames player development to be more like Edmonton and less like Detroit?

If you hand spots to young kids, you're gonna need a guy like Setoguci to fill in when the kids are out with season ending surgery after being pounded along the boards by men. Eg. RNH / Hall / etc...
