It is tough to argue that Calgary's roster got any better. With the departure of Cammalleri we got worse at forward. D is pretty even. Hiller should help at goalie, but Ramo was pretty darn good last season.
It was the right thing to do. But I don't think we got better this summer. Not in the short term.
I'm hoping to see gaudreau = with cammy and butler is better than engelland
I am surprised that a week out from the young stars tournament that the rosters have not been announced. I wonder if there is a little gamesmanship going on between the GM's.

Disagree on Forwards... I think we are better and therefore overall roster is better with Hiller > Berra/MacDonald
Healthy Glencross = Cammalleri's 26 goals
Raymond > Stempniak
1 of Gaudreau/Baertschi = Glencross' half season last yr
Setoguchi > Galiardi
Bollig > Westgarth
This also ignores D. Jones who missed almost half a season and young guys filled in without much offence. Either Jones stays healthy and contributes more or he gets hurt but the young guys are better this year. Especially the other half of Gaudreau/Baertschi or Granlund.
I also like the odds that our younger forwards will generally improve overall compared to last year. Backlund, Byron, Bouma, Colborne, Monahan

You can't really use a healthy player as a replacement for a player gone, as its just as likely someone else will go down for an injury during the year. The amount of goals lost by glencross being hurt is likely be lost to injuries of other players.

You can on the assumption you don't lose important scoring to injury. Many teams did not lose am important scorer to injury last year.

Yes you can. The question that's continuously being asked is "how will Cammy's 25 goals be replaced?" and that's one way in which they could be replaced. Glencross is good for 20 or 25 if he plays all year, and likely more if he's getting 1st line minutes and PP time. Between a healthy Glenny and the other players added, they could easily replace Cammy's production.
Sure, he could get hurt again, and sure, other players may get injured, but we're trying to determine if we can replace cammy's production.
Glencross has topped 70 games twice in 6 seasons. He hasn't once played every game of the season. He has scored 20 goals twice in his career, and is 31 years old.
Obviously all of that comes from a small sample size that's further skewed by one shortened season, and of course there would be nothing surprising in Glencross scoring 20. Heck, even 30 goals is completely within his realistic range.
It's just funny, people say well a full season of Gio, Wideman and Glencross will make up for whatever. There are no guarantees any of them will be healthy or that we won't suffer other injuries that hamper the team.
Don't count on injuries but expect that they'll happen, especially when the team plays the way they did last year. Giving 100% effort 100% of the time will take it's toll on the players and it'll catch up with them. They'll either get injured or they'll start to tune out the coach and abandon the system if it's too tough on them.
A healthy season of Glencross could be 30 goals but it's about as likely that he misses the same amount of time.

Hitmen Forward Pavel Padakin has earned a rookie camp invite for the Flames. Did not attend development camp as he was offered an invite by the Montreal Canadiens for that camp: http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...870/story.html
He was set up to play in the KHL in the Ukraine, but due to the rebels burning down the arena, he has no team. He's also an overager and an import and the Hitmen have two other import players on the roster. Chances are, he will be pushed off the Hitmen roster this year.
On the upside, he is a Right Wing and has a right shot. I doubt he would get a roster spot, but he could be good in Addy and just to have another right shooting RW in the system.

Last year was highly extraordinary levels of injuries to our top 6F and top 4D. It's likely going to go back to ordinary levels this year.
1. Last year, 3 out of our top 10 missed 34 to 44 games each. In the last 5 years, not even 1 player from Top 6F/Top 4D missed over 21 games (nevermind 34 to 44 games). This was extraordinary.
2. Plus another 4 more of our top 10 missed 14 to 19 games each. That only happened one other time in last 5 yrs (2011/2012). That too was out of the ordinary.
The combination of #1 and #2 in the same year is highly extraordinary. 7 out of the top 10 missed 14 games or more.
At least we got Bennett for our troubles, plus got to see so many young players come in.
But it is very, very unlikely that we see those levels of injuries again this year in our Top 6F and Top 4D.
“@FAN960Jason: Looks like #Flames forward Sean Monahan will make his way into the studio with @BoomerAndRhett on Monday.”
