Default Design a Calgarypuck Logo!

The team is completely rebuilt ... new management, a new jersey many don't like, a prospect pool pushing new players on to the roster.

More than anything else a completely different "feel".

So a good time for a new look for Calgarypuck as well. Personally I love the simple CP logo we have now (the one I use for twitter), so I'll keep it for rotation going forward, but I thought it would be fun to see some creativity thrown out for a new look for the website to get up in time for the fall.

Depending on interest I thought we could see what ones are loved by all, and then leave a final decision to me to make the call from the group of favourites.

So if you have graphic skills and a creative mind, get on a new logo and lets see it!

Looking forward to seeing these!

EDIT: You can post your entries in this thread, but please also post them to this thread so they are all in one place: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138885

This should be fun. Vote in the end to see who's logo gets picked?

Was thinking a month ... would like to get it up by training camp.

^^
I'm hoping the most popular logo is also my favourite, but I reserve the right to pick from a list of say the top five!

Any prize for the logo picked! Like a Keg dinner for two or a Steam/Sony Play Station card?

Many small companies that I've worked with, or groups that I collaborated with, found a huge jump in participation when a prize was included. It's just a suggestion.

Do we just submit them to you or do you just want us to post them?

Is there anything you had in mind?
As in, if you had your perfect logo, what would it be? Calgarypuck? CP? Understated? A little more flashy?

I think you might get a lot more in the name of quality if you put guidelines in place, even loose ones

You might need a Kleenex for that stuff dripping from your chin.

Before you go all "Communist", remember, there is nothing wrong with adding prizes. It actually increases competition and creates excitement.

Are you offering to provide the prizes?

I didn't design this, but I like it. Perfect colour scheme as well.

As a freelancing graphic designer looking for opportunities anywhere I can find them I'll be happy to post a design or two.

I think you can just go ahead and shut down the competition now.

Nobody is being forced to enter, but the way this is set up, you're going to be get C-level talent on this, and get C-level results.

I think having CalgaryPuck in the logo helps people find the forum, if that's any consideration.

Haha, I was wondering when someone would say something. Still stand 100% by that statement, but this is lot different situation than a government/corporation having a contest and an online forum where clearly the intent is to support a hobby, not to make big bucks. When hobbies are concerned, all business rules go out the window.

I'm looking forward to what people contribute!

I'll know it when I see it?

Personally I like understated and elegant. I think something with a logo and a wordmark would be beneficial so that it could be used as a square logo in cases where that's required, and a horizontal banner in other cases (though the current logo doesn't meet that but might be a nice-to-have).

Or it might be that that's part of what's being looked for; an overall aesthetic. If the logo is quite different, the forum and site look would probably change to match.
