So in 3 games in the AHL, Poirier's line is:
3G 4G 2A 6P +5
By comparison, Shinkaruk:
10G 1G 2A 3P +1

That was something else to watch last night. This kid has every tool a hockey player needs nowadays at his disposal.
If you think about it, Bennett and Poirier's game aren't all that different. Both fast, tenacious, a bit pesky, ridiculous shots both in terms of accuracy and velocity, and smart. Only difference I really see is that Bennett is an unbelievable dangler whereas Poirier's not as great at that.

Poirier has an NHL shot, NHL speed, NHL grit, and decent size. And he seems to be a pretty smart player.
You never know until they actually prove it at that level, but he has a complete NHL tool box.

Those always look so much sexier when you pop up the water bottle on the back of the net. Poirier looks like the real deal. It's funny, I was so pissed when they passed on Shinkaruk.

Flames beat up on the Habs; Poirier nets 2 goals in his first game of the season.
Sucks to be a Montreal fan...

So, wait, let me get this right..
He's been out for, what, 5 months? Comes back and scores 2 goals and (?) assists in his first 2 games?

1 game played, 2 goals scored.
Should be good for at least 100 goals this season. Maybe 120 if he stays healthy.

Won't be surprised if he is in the NHL by the end of November.

If this is Poirier after rehabbing for months, I'd like to see what he's going to be like when he's all warmed up.

I would. That's a bunch more injuries that would need to happen. Remember we have 3 guys coming back from injury still

Poirier means pear tree in French, so it would be appropriate if he gets called up near Christmas.

Also the contract thing, Poirier's contract only slides in the AHL this year right?

True. Plus the fact that I would question if he "earned it" after 10 games over the guys who are currently up

“@CRoatis: Both Emile Poirier and Hunter Shinkaruk have 4 points this AHL season. Only difference is Poirier has played 2 games and Shinkaruk 11.”
