Big IF and big IF that Jagr pushes them over the top to make it, he looked like an old timer last night

No need to worry, while other teams foolishly stockpile picks and players, we're stockpiling pride and respect. Other teams are gonna respect the crap out of us by the end of the deadline.

We could get into a semantical argument pretty quick here but I'm referring to the Bruins cup run in 2013, that they didn't win. A run for the cup doesn't mean a win, like the Flames run for the cup in 2004.
Anyways, semantics aside, I was referring to 2013.

FUN FACT THAT I JUST DISCOVERED MYSELF:
Jaromir Jagr has NEVER, not once, won his final game with an NHL team.

2011-12: 54pts in 73 games
2012-13: 35pts in 45 games (lockout year)
2013-14: 67pts in 82 games
Stats are down this year but the guy has always been productive, even in his later years. Give him some decent line mates in Florida and he probably will produce.

Yeah they have some good young players in Florida so this trade is beneficial for them. I think Jagr will be motivated to sign an extensions with Florida because of up and coming young forward players like Barkov and others. Florida even have a stud young d-man in Ekblad.

No kidding. That team is ridiculously long in the tooth.
They have a solid goalie in Schneider (28) and some nice young defensemen (Larsson, Merrill, Gelinas) to help build from the back end out, but up front they are old as dirt with the exception of Henrique.

Despite being chastised by a good group of posters, not losing our pride and respect seemed to help with our rebuild.

Florida doing what Calgary likely does. Sell some assets and buy others.

Disagree. In hockey terms it's a bad trade, but for a team two points out of a playoff spot that desperately needs to sell tickets, in a market that is notorious for only being interested in winners – they need to do something like this.
It's not even a case of ‘If you make the dance anything can happen.’ It's more like, ‘If we make the dance, we might actually fill up the arena for a few games and get some new season ticket sales.’

He is pretty much just a mercenary now. I think he will go anywhere that pays him.

Almost seems like Jagr over the past few years is most interest in playing on teams where he gets to play significant minutes. That's why he likely signed with Dallas and New Jersey. And why he would want to go to Florida. He still wants to have a chance up win but getting to play as a top six forward seems equally important to him.

Yup. This.
I know it's affected my thoughts as a season ticket holder. They went into training camp with a bunch of free agents and young promising players, hoping to have a better year. They did that, and are having quite a good year all things considered, but weren't quite there. In the past, most Panthers teams would have stood pat, or even dealt players away looking to the future. I thought that might be the case this year with the Bergenheim deal, but his situation has more to do with being dissatisfied with his role.
This is a signal that having a "good year" isn't good enough for this ownership and management group. It's change my mind as a season ticket holder from, "meh, I might renew, maybe a half season's tickets.", to "Yeah, I'll gladly renew and help support this team."
Signals like this are important to a beleaguered fan base.

I have no issue with Florida going for it.
Bigger issue IMO is that I'm just not sure Jagr can keep up.
He somehow manages to put up points but his skating makes him a liability.
