So who's Glencross' competition now?
TSN says and a few posters agree:
Cole- LW 36. Years. Old.
Lupul- RW Speculated about but no big rumours as of yet. Anyways I don't know who would take on that contract with the injury record he has.
Stewart- RW Good, gritty player. Probably similar to Winik's return. Only real winger close to Glencross' play and production.
4 more days!

Stats are down this year but the guy has always been productive, even in his later years. Give him some decent line mates in Florida and he probably will produce.

Where he should help is Florida's atrocious powerplay. But outside of that I wouldn't expect much from him

I think this serves notice to Boston that Florida intends to make a hard charge at the post season. It puts pressure on Boston to respond.
And Boston has been interested in Glencross.
Works for me.

Oh yeah my bad for evaluating a trade based on value given and received.
Doesn't mean that Florida had to overpay for Jagr.

You're trying to be sarcastic, but frankly, it IS your bad for evaluating a deadline-week rental as if it were a regular hockey trade.
Also, your bad for totally ignoring the monetary value given and received. The marginal value of adding Jagr to the Panthers, in dollars and cents, is much higher than the marginal cost of subtracting Jagr from a team whose season is already shot.

By that logic the Devils could have traded him for a 7th and it wouldn't have been a bad trade for them.
I believe this was a bad trade for Florida. I'm not speaking for anyone else. Deal with it.

If he didn't go to the KHL, only Gretzky would have more points.

This claim falls into the category ‘not even wrong’. First you claim that Florida paid far too much for Jagr. Now you're beating a straw man about a hypothetical situation in which they would have paid far too little, and claiming that it follows from something I said. It does not. I never named any specific value that would have been the break-even point for New Jersey on this deal. In fact, the Devils would have been chumps to trade Jagr for a 7th-rounder, because clearly they could get more for him. The whole question is how much Jagr is worth to Florida.

I disagree, and I said so. Deal with it.

I would not want to see the Flames pick him up - especially at that price - but I think it was a good move for the Panthers.
1) they need to make a push and get into the playoffs
2) they need more offense
3) they could use a 'big name'
4) it sends the right message to the current players
Would love to see Florida get in

What jersey does Jagr wear when he himself joins that crew?

Greatest ever European player? Only other is Hasek and Lidstrom and it's difficult to compare them.

Gotta be the original Pittsburgh #68. 11 seasons, 2 cups, 5 scoring titles, Mullet.

I would have made this trade for the Flames if the 2nd rounder could be a 2016.
In context of the 4-5 year re-build we started a couple of years ago, a 2016 2nd would be less important. A 2015 pick would have a greater chance of being relevant by the time the re-build is complete.

Panthers have two 3rds (theirs and Minny's). Devils get the pick that ends up being later. That is the condition.

Jagr is the best.
I would say it's more difficult to win consecutive scoring titles than consecutive norris trophies. While Lidstrom likely has more norris trophies if his career doesn't align with Pronger, Steven, MacInnis, Niedermayer, Bourque etc, Jagr won scoring titles competing against Sakic, Yzerman, Gretzky, Lemieux.
For me, it's Jagr.
