Nobody else's engines are that far outboard, so the dust out there doesn't get a chance to get kicked up. That's my theory, as AC's 777 that has been here everyday for a week has engines almost twice as powerful.
Tougher to keep a black plane cool in the summer, I suspect... but my God does it look awesome. I can't think of a livery that would look bad if they just did a blackout version of it.
Racist.
That is one killer look on the 787. New Zealand knows how to do it.

Yeah, the 747's have always been the "street sweepers" of YYC. Like Acey just pointed out we don't get any other aircraft with the outboard engines so far out, so they always give our taxiways and runways a nice clean when they come here.
Here's a shot of the arrival from the east side of the field, better lighting and arguably where I should have been. Taken by the most excellent Avgeek photographer Wee_in_YYC:

Just booking flights to UK for July. Was about to book AC as I haven't been on the AC Calgary-Heathrow flight since they changed to the 777, but then remembered BA is changing the Heathrow-Calgary route to the 787 in July. Can't miss out on that.
Hope this transition is still on schedule??
