Not overly worked up. Still most likely it's a common cold or flu. He also has a young kid at home.

And in a room full of mostly immunized guys, the mumps isn't all that much worse than the flu. The main concern is that whatever it is, it's an infectious disease that might take out a few other players.

My hope is because Elliott was sick for only 1 game, that it's just a short cold going around the room.

I wonder if players league wide received an MMR booster after the first player was diagnosed? In general, you should be immune within 2 weeks of vaccination, especially if it is a booster to a prior vaccination. This was preventable, and shouldn't happen

I'm not a public health official but why in the hell is mumps being spread thru NHL dressing rooms? I know there are small populations that don't immunize but I would think after the first break out everyone would have taken precautions

It's been a while since they played Vancouver/Minnesota. I think longer than the typical incubation period. So I'm not overly worried.

If so, then let's hope he's an isolated case. Should only keep him out a week or less.

The immunization is not 100% effective.

It's a safe bet they've all had it though

You'd think that would be the case. It seems like the obvious solution.

Canucks are currently on a 6 game slide. The Wild are in a 4 game slide and losing to the Jets as I type this. The teams with the Mumps have been devastated so this news is concerning

ACK!
I read that out of context before reading what you quoted, and thought you were referring to the OP

Do you think it would be too much to ask for Ferland to take a couple of sips out of Brouwer's water bottle?
