My favorite current Flame, probably 2nd behind Iggy only.
I hope he hits 30. Love the way the guy handles himself and how he came into the league and became a reliable guy right away.

Pulling for him and he is one of the best at his age. Quite the player!

Honestly, the way things go in that building, they might have to put up 7 or 8 to bank a win.
Every puck the Ducks throw at the net seems to ping pong its way in. Can't wait to see what the curse has in store next time..

Monahan needs 11pts in his last 10 to break 60pts for the 3rd straight year.
Monahan has been very consistent since having a breakout sophomore season. This year at points it looked like he was due a regression but a solid finish over the last 10 games will have him a few points and goals away from his typical year.
I know there have been some haters out there who think that this is all Monahan will be but personally I think there is more to give. I still think that Monahan has 40 goal and 75pt potential when he really hits his prime.
It was comical the Canuck/Oiler fans arguing that Horvat is superior because he went from 30-40-50ish pts but because Monahan went from 34-62-63-55ish point he has peaked and is regressing

I think he ends up with 27.
Which would put him at a goal every 3 games, which is pretty well in line with his career average.

Its worth noting that Monahan's average ice time has dropped by over a minute from last season. So in reality his production is already on a par with 2015/16. When you look at points per 60 at even strength:
2015/16 - 1.66
2016/17 - 1.64
He's also generating more shots and shot attempts:
2015/16 - 7.62 shots / 60 & 12.99 shot attempts / 60
2016/17 - 8.36 shots / 60 & 14.42 shot attempts / 60
The only caveat to the above stats are his zone starts. Over 60% offensive zone starts this season vs 55% last season. Regardless of that, I think by any measure (statistical or eye test), Monahan is showing improvement.

Only reason for the increase in offensive zone starts is the reliability of the 3m line to get the puck out of the zone whether they win the draw or not.
Otherwise, monahan and his sucky 52% faceoff percentage would probably be seeing more defensive zone time.
Embarrassment of riches for this team since Christmas.

I've been surprised at how quick he looks this year. Used to be a knock against him, but he certainly doesn't seem to be struggling with speed anymore

Gulutzan's new commitment to 3 zone responsibility has him skating his ass off nightly.

I think Mony and Johnny will both hit 70 points this year.
But I'm including a LONG playoff run! ;-)

If only the Flames had drafted Bo Horvat and his 20 goals and 47 points.
What a lost opportunity.

I think the back was still bothering him earlier in the season. He was much slower at the start.

Mony has such a sneaky release; want him and Ferland to shoot more with Johnny.

I don't care about the points this year. The whole team struggled at the start of the season. I'm just loving the way he is playing in all 3 zones this season, he has really stepped his game up away from the puck.

What's the advanced stat narrative from that group lately?
Personally I think he's been as good in our own zone as he has in the offensive and like Flash mentioned above Gulutzen has him skating the entire length of the ice, from one net to the other. Looks great IMO. Has he gotten his license this season? Is he a driver yet?

Crosby (1st overall)
Kane (1st overall)
Kovalchuk (1st overall)
Stamkos (1st overall)

Monahan

That's pretty amazing. But in fairness, we need to point out that there is someone from the 2015 draft that is also on pace to be added to that list...
That's right... you know who I'm talking about....

Thanks to Enoch Root setting up a fun little rhetorical joke and TheScorpion immediately feeling the urge to answer it seriously.
