Mark Giordano wins the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award

Giordano heard from all of his teammates last night after his big win. The first to reach out? Fellow Foundation award winner Hamonic.

Well bit of a ripoff there. They didn't announce nominees or show videos or anything. He didn't even get on stage. They just said "winner of the Muhammad Ali award bla bla" and showed a short clip and said the award was presented last night. He did get on camera briefly, sitting there.

They called him "Gee-ordano".

It was weird. Gotta wonder if it's a bigger star winning it, he'd make the main show.

They've dedicated an awful lot of time to non-stars (a little kid with a health issue, a wounded soldier won the Pat Tillman Service Award) so this award would seem to fit in with the "charitable" angle of the show.

Hah, pretty impressive to see Gazdic hang in with McGrattan so long. Kid is tough. Should be a good protector for the AHL.

Also funny to see both Bollig and Engelland get tuned by Grats. Two guys who were pretty tough and did some good work protecting guys in recent years. Just shows how much better McGrattan was at his job than everyone else. I kinda miss him.

The Ali award was given on Tues night at a separate ceremony. The ESPY's were held on Wed night and Gio's award was mentioned, but he wasn't on stage on Wed night.
