Lloris has been tremendous, mostly because Spurs defense has been shambolic and hung him out to dry.

the moment when Dortmund scores more goals in a single game than Hamburg and Thomas Müller have combined all season. Priceless.

Well I won't cheer against them, but for the PL it might be better if they lose to CSKA and don't play Thursdays.
That defence was so bad today. I think missing Alderweireld is definitely punishing them, and it's evident. But the more pressing issue is the offence which is also non-existent. No one can finish for them.

pathetic
getting in the EL wont matter for PL, Poch plays the backups anyway so it will actually be good to get playing time for guys like Tripper/Davies/Winks/Onomah etc.

Spurs would be very wise to tank against CSKA and avoid Europa League. It's why I think Liverpool and Chelsea have such an advantage in the PL, no midweek football to concern themselves with. Spurs would be wise to themselves have no midweek football to bother themselves with.

The midweek is one thing, but it's astounding that after all the trials and tribulations to get to CL that they were resting players and playing terrible. No energy, and just flat. Defensively they were standing around watching the ball, and offensively just showed no creativity or drive.

BBC did a thing last year and basically clubs with squad depth it has no effect
where it hurts is an Everton or Southampton
but the rest of the bigger squads it has no effect

The verdict
Sixty per cent of Premier League clubs in our study either do better or exactly the same after European games as they do in the rest of their matches. Of course, there are lots of variables at play - squad depth, quality of opponent and travelling time to name a few - but it is pretty clear that there is no general pattern of teams doing worse after they play in Europe. To some it is even an apparent boost to their domestic form.

So just got home from work and checked the scores. Dortmund, ok yep. I'm not really surprised, that seems like a thing they would do

Speaking of what the hell happened, with 20 minutes left:
Rostov 3, Bayern Munich 2.

oh it matters. Ask Arsenal.
Bayern are a bit of a hot mess right now and I, for one, absolutely love it

They fielded a pretty strong lineup for a team that doesn't care. But even Bayern's B team should win that match.

so this wasn't mentioned on here at all, but Uli Hoeneß is back as Bayern Munichs president. Bit surreal when an asshat like him is gifted back his powerful job and is talking on stage about "a need for social conscience" and so on. I want to thank him though, I now remember why I've always hated that holier-than-thou club with a burning passion.
