Default Moving photos from Mac to PC

My g/f is trying to move her photos from her Mac to an external HD as she wants to go back to PC. I know less than nothing about Macs. She's telling me that when she trys to export her pictures, her Mac is doing them all as individual files instead of keeping them all in their original folders. It's sorting all the files named, say #1 in all the folders together, then the number 2's then 3's so on and so forth. It's putting them all together in numerical order in one big folder. Is there a way to move them without disrupting how she has them in their folders?

What is she exporting them from? Why not copy the original folders onto an external drive instead of exporting?

If it's from iPhoto there's an option to export into subfolders:

Quote:
Subfolder Format only shows if you're exporting more than one Event at a time. You can choose to export all the images into one folder, or into a number of folders with the Event Name given to the Folder.

Then click Export and choose where you want to export the files to.
Tough to help unless we know what she's exporting from though.

As far as I know she is trying to export from iPhoto? Is that what you mean?

She has exported from the finder window she says as you would iTunes. Not sure if this makes sense but I am not good with the apple ecosystem.

Try this.
open finder
goto pictures
scroll to iphoto library(will look like a program icon).
right click and select show package contents.
it's not perfect but on my mac i can see the master, originals... as folders broken up and saved as jpegs, pngs... those should be universal shouldn't they? can you just copy and paste the folder/folder structure to a external drive and then to a pc?

Yup that's what I meant. If that's the case either what I posted should work, and what monkeyman posted will work as well (his is actually a better method IMO - works quite easily).

If you're dealing with Finder using monkeyman's method the mac/windows environments aren't really that different for moving folders around.
