Just terrible...... coles notes: He basically raped his 18 year old nanny, who started babysitting for him when she was 12 years old.
He should be in jail.

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure AZ is at the 50 contract limit.

F that rat Ribiero.
I'd rather watch him score a goal in every game the Flames play against him (I'm pretty sure he does anyways) and have the Flames lose every game we play his team than see his greasy head ever sticking out of a Flames jersey.
We keep hearing how the Flames put character high on the list when drafting and acquiring players, so they better pass.
Something must have happened recently in Nashville, this guy really is bad news.

Decent stay at home type who doesn't drive a lot of offense but is good at shot suppression.
A type that if they insist on playing Brodie on the LH side might not be a bad shot at seeing if there is chemistry.

Wasn't our GM the AGM of the team that bought him out though - or was Treliving here already?
Doubt we take a look.

Treliving was already here and reportedly had a deal worked out for the Flames to acquire Ribiero in 2014 before Ribiero refused to waive his NTC. Granted reportedly the Flames were also getting the 12th OA pick in the deal.

He showed a lot of promise going from 7th round nobody up the Wings depth chart. Was starting to look like a better NHL prospect than their higher picks like Ouellet and Sproul et al. He was definitely a bigger stay at home guy.
Honestly at this point, I see the Wings as an organization that is unable to develop talent at the NHL level and any player that can go somewhere else has a chance to flourish. Their insistence on veteran FA's and leaving prospects in the minors until all their options run out has finally caught up with them. But I digress. I think Marchenko could still carve out a decent career, but I am not sure he will much more than a depth player at this point.

It's called being Fotiu'd.
Also Ribiero has a face I would never tire of kicking.

I believe in the Jays.

I just realized something... something that made claiming Marchenko a good idea. He's under contract for next season and he's played the requisite number of games to qualify for our requirements under the expansion draft rules.

I just don't see Merchenko as being a big upgrade on Wotherspoon. He's basically the same player as Wotherspoon, except 2 years older.

Uhh did anyone read the articles?
We've had this discussion multiple times before on CP. High profile athletes are more likely to be accused of things such as this because of money.
The lawsuit ended in a settlement. For all we know the girl was lying and the Ribeiro side settled for cheaper than it would have been to defend. Or there wasn't enough evidence on their side. Or he did indeed sexually assault her. Either way, we don't know based on the information given.
Plenty of good hockey players do plenty of ####ty things. We don't know for sure if he's one of them.

"Cool story bro" time:
In 2012 I was able to see the Stars play the Coyotes in Arizona. I had connections and was able to go underneath into the Coyotes dressing room. On the way you pass the visitors room, and Ribiero walked out wearing a fedora, big gold chains, and big diamond studded earrings. That image is burned into my memory. I would pass on him for that reason alone.

I g et what your saying but...his past and timeline pf events don't look so good for him.
At the time he was severely abusing drugs and alcohol and infidelity. Add that there is a throughout intial document details that He had talked to his wife and the nanny apologizing blaming his addictions. The notion he may have been inappropriate with boundary issues with her then when the girl finally turns 18 something allegedly then happens. Settling literally just days before a discovery hearing when they months before hand he and his wife filed a notion that they were 100% sure no evidence could be provided.
Although I agree with what you are saying The time in which this allegedly took place seems disturbing.
The Flames need to pass on him
