Thank you Drury! I was thinking about asking if you could do a year end review on the boys down in addy. Only hesitated due to the tremendous contributions you make here. Didn't wanna throw more on the already huge pile of work

Excellent stuff. If what you say is to be true, I would hope like many others that the Flames continue to keep McGrattan in the organization in some capacity.

Probably the single best post I've read on CP. Bravo, Drury.

My day at work did not go as planned (I literally put out a fire today and I'm not a firefighter), but I managed to complete the Centre's.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad these write-ups are useful and hopefully answering most of the questions about our AHL guys this year.

Perhaps I could have worded my comment better.

Like Phanthuier alluded to, chances are a team isn't going to swoop in and steal him without him giving a chance to the Flames to offer him a contract as well. I have little doubt though that there are teams out there waiting to see what Calgary's move is though. He's an Unrestricted Free Agent as he's undrafted so he's able to have multiple offers and make decisions from there. I would assume if he was given an offer from another team, he would discuss this with the Flames first prior to accepting it. If the Flames showed no interest in signing him, then he would move on. It's a poor business practice in the NHL to jump to another team when one has invested time into you, even in the AHL.

If it's September 2015 and he has no contract and no talks with the NHL Flames about a contract and another team walks up to him with an NHL contract in hand and a training camp invite, then I could see him moving along.

IIRC we had a promising defenceman signed to an AHL contract who we were going to sign but Philadelphia moved in and signed him to a NHL contract. The Flyers laughed, the player had his contract and Coates got schooled.

Ryan Bast?

He only managed 2 career NHL games and played out his career in the AHL.

That sounds like him, thanks and yeah he didn't turn out but the Flames got some egg on their face because they were wanting him. Bobby Clarke may not have even valued him highly but he never turned down a chance to one up a rival.

Worrying about whether or not another GM is going to steal Hathaway is probably a bit exaggerated by Flames fans, but I'm hoping Treliving is taking his contract negotiations seriously and has reached out to Hathaway's agent.

While it's rare that another team swoops in and steals a guy on an AHL deal who later becomes an impact player, there's a first time for everything and I'd rather it not happen to us. Hathaway is one of those new generation fourth-liners, so having him in Calgary's lineup next Fall alongside, say, Bouma and Wolf would make me giddy.

Thanks for the hard work. I did notice Shore, Ferland, and Potter weren't done, but that might be intentional with us having a look at them on the Flames.

Default "How did player X do this year in Adirondack?"

Yes, Shore only played a handful of games in the AHL with Adirondack and Potter has been with the NHL Flames since February and only sparingly with the AHL team prior to that as he's been called up/sent down numerous times. Not really much to write on either as neither stayed long enough to really get a good look.

Ferland could probably be added. I forgot about him. Outside of a good November, he really didn't do anything memorable in Adirondack. He's been a better player in Calgary by far.
