Overall fairly polished but still trying to find my way around things as I mentally compare to Football Manager. Not being to set the job title/player status at the same time when offering a contract seems counterproductive even if they had little indicators on whether the player is not interested in that role.
Other little things like not consolidating scouting reports into one by each scout etc. 2D viewer could do with a better framerate.
And I haven't even played a regular season game yet in all these hours.

The schedule is still buggered. 8 games in 8 days for my latest team. I think they're aware of it, but I was hoping it got fixed in the latest update.
It is 15 for the person who was asking.

The one issue I had with the old game was how the AI for other teams handled the cap/waivers/contracts. You upload an update to the higher salary cap, updated salaries, etc. and you would get teams waiving players left and right.

Tactics seem to be a little tricky. You kinda need to tailor them for your team. If you team is fast with high stamina you could probably get away with playing an aggressive offensive style with a hard back check, for instance. If they're slow and have low skill you're probably stuck setting your guys up for a defensive trap game.
You can set tactics for individual lines, and also set tactics for individual players. Lets say your top line has 2 guys who are great offensively but are 'Dion Phaneuf' defensively, you probably want to have a guy on that line who can take his head outta his butt in the defensive zone. You'd set the line tactics offensively, because it's your offensive line, but set the more defensive player's tactics to more of a defensive role so he can cover up the defensive mistakes of your other 2 offensive players.
You want your high end offensive players playing an offensive game, with creative passing. Creative passing will lead to more turnovers though so it's not something you want to roll on all your lines.
Something to think about when it comes to shots is it seems the more you make your guys shoot, the lower percentage shots they take, at least that's what I've found.
I've only been playing for like a week though so maybe someone with more experience can give you more/better advice.

So, this game is amazing yet again. Anyone have any stories to share about their seasons? Any fun developments?
I can't believe how deep it is, so much information. The UI can be a bit confusing and not intuitive but it's an early release so that's okay. Managed to get players faces, real names and team logos in now, makes it a much more enjoyable experience.
First season 2014-2015 was a complete joke, ended up firing Hartley, shipping both Ramo and Hillier off for picks, picked up young Matt Hackett from the Sabres. There were some bright spots but I ended up drafting first overall. Got McDavid! Somehow Noah Hanifan fell all the way to 11th and I moved up in the draft and got him too.
With that depth I moved out Marcus Granlund who is now a superstar for the Islanders! argh. Johnny Gaudreau was a real pain in the butt to sign to a new deal. Wanted to wait until the end of the year to negotiate, then asked to be traded when the time came. I declined his request and sometime in August, deep in the offseason we got a two year deal done.
Went with a real young team in my 2nd year but signed guys like Christian Ehrhoff and Justin Williams to big money two year deals to transition the kids and get above the salary floor.
Bennett, Monahan, and Gaudreau have been killers. McDavid was disappointing and returned him to juniors, wasn't ready.
Could ramble on and on, what a great immersive game.

No, but the Blue Line does a great job anyhow so we are lucky there. I don't have a pc but bought it and thanks to a guy on the blue line forum got it running perfectly on my mac. Just started playing and it is pretty overwhelming at first but awesome. Do most of you coach your own games or do you just act as GM and let the coach run the rest?

I coach myself, because the coach doesn't always put the better players on the right lines and even in the lineup!

So after playing for a while there is a lot of work to be done with this game. My first season playing as the Flames, David Jones won the Art Ross. DAVID JONES! Also, sometimes a team will suddenly score 3 goals in like 15 seconds. This actually happens a lot. Lots of bugs to still work out but it looks promising.

Yeah lots of promise but i just can't get over stuff like that. The thing that bugs me the most is how all the good dmen end up with 400-500 shots with 1-2% sh% and you're lucky to get a forward over 200 shots but they'll still knock in 30-40 goals. Also trading is basically broken to the point where 90% of the league have approximately the same trade value while the other 10% are literally impossible to trade for.

Quality staff really become an issue later on in the seasons. Would like to see more players go on to became coaches/staff etc. It's annoying having a guy retire and you lose the ability to look back on his career, his profile becomes unavailable, or if he becomes a coach you can't go back and look at his player profile.
Should really make a list of tweaks I'd like to see as I play. Salary cap doesn't change at all either.
