Wait until it's released before you make a decision.

My friend says you can do the same with iPhone. Dropbox and Drop It apps.
Do some digging.

It's great! I bought a MHL HDMI adapter and sixaxis app for my phone as well. Now I have controllers, all the emulators I want, and the XBMC DLNA mediaplayer. Now in my pocket with my phone I have a mountain of games and movies playable on my TV or anywhere I go.

that's the power of Android. you don't need to do any tinkering, the S3 is a fantastic phone out of the box that beats pretty much anything else on the market for performance and features. but if you want to have a little fun with it and start going for more customization, you can

Exactly. My wife just upgraded to the S3 and she has no interest in rooting or loading ROM's. She's simply been enjoying loading apps and customizing it as she sees fit. She is more than happy with the phone as is. Coming from her Bold 9700, it's like upgrading from a Accent to a Ferrari.

So with all the Android rooting, and roms playing for video games, I'm leaning toward iphone.
I don't want any of that :P

When you get an Android phone, you sign a contract saying you must do all of those things.

Just wait for that Nokia 920 they released today. Looks sexy (but I wouldn't trade my S3 in for it - at least this quickly)

Samsung Galaxy S V perhaps?

Interesting article about handset subsidies:
http://www.montrealgazette.com/busin...372/story.html
Quote:
The new iPhone is rumoured to be coming out next week, and it’s expected to carry a price tag of up to $850.
If that seems like a hefty bill for a phone, it may surprise you to learn that most high-end smartphones retail for about that price.
But almost no one pays such exorbitant rates. Instead, Canadians often pay about $100 to $300 for a typical smartphone, and if they want an older model, the phone is free. The balance is absorbed by the cellphone providers.
|
Quote:
“Many Americans don’t realize the actual cost of the phones they’re purchasing with a two-year contract, because the cost of that phone is included in the cost of their data plan and the fees associated with their contract,” he said. “We’ve also unwittingly created a disposal marketplace for some pretty amazing products.”
|
Quote:
Surtees said he believes subsidies will eventually be phased out, though it might be over a long period of time, like 10 years.

$850 for an unlocked iphone is pretty hefty. That can't be right, unless they are giving it 4gigs of ram.

To the OP, what about a Galaxy Nexus or the next version of the nexus which i'm sure will come out this fall? Pure android, no bloatware.

Simply not true here in Canada. Most new phones are around $600 outright.
