How many of these five players will be on the '17/'18 Flames opening night roster?

Engelland likes it here and he knows in order for him to stay in Calgary is if he signs for lesser money. I am sure he'll go for it because he plays more minutes here in Calgary. I don't mind Chiasson to stay but I think Stajan and Bouma's time in Calgary needs to end. Unfortunately it is not that easy to get rid of their contracts. Brouwer I was kind of disappointed with but I am willing to put up with him for another season. If there's no improvement by the middle of the season, then Flames can try to unload him. Problem is, it is not that easy. So I am guessing 3 or 4 will be in Flames uniform at the start at the end of the season. Only thing is 3 of those players we don't have any choice.

Brouwer to Vegas, Bouma is traded and Engelland signs elsewhere.

I hope Brouwer is selected by Vegas, Bouma and Stajan are traded, and Engelland signs elsewhere. Chiasson likely wants a pay increase (ie, like Bouma did), so Treliving walks away too.

Since I hope none are on the opening roster, I'll predict that. But based on Trevy's comments and Chiasson's history with the coaches, I imagine him and Engelland will be back

Three. Engelland signs elsewhere, Chiasson is claimed in expansion draft, No one wants Brouwer or Bouma in trade (on their current ticket) and ownership doesn't want to bury the money/retain salary/pay buyouts. Stajan is a decent player and the Flames don't want to be rid of him.
