Vancouver would be in the top 5 of oldest arenas.

Interesting.
Which seats in Vancouver's Roger's Arena are better than Sec 212 row 1 or row 2 in the Dome?

Close but false, and I am saying Vancouver has better views overall when you compare all the seats to Calgary. So I'm assuming the newer arenas are even better in a lot of cases.

I was saying generally. I'm not comparing specific seats. Have you sat in the lower bowl in Vancouver? You compare corner/ end seats in Vancouver to Calgary and you will see the difference.

Sightlines are just geometry, nothing new here. Stacked up means to get the same view over the previous rows the height differential has to be bigger since you're looking down at a sharper angle. I remember going to the Forum in Montreal - if you were in the upper levels the steps were really steep. I recall the view was OK but I only went a couple of times and can't remember enough to compare (it was a long time ago), but I'm sure the second bowl steps at the Saddledome are not as steep.

Top 6?
Arenas built in the last 10 years have wider rows. 25 rows off the ice will be further away in the new arena.
The saddledome has minimal boxes between the 1st and 2nd deck and because the lower bowl is only 13 rows, the saddledome 2nd bowl hangs right over the ice with very very nice views of the ice.

For the record in the new Edmonton rink, the second levels view is more like the press level than the 2nd level in saddledome imo.
You are much higher over the ice.

There is no question that the lower rows in the 2nd deck at the Dome are among the best (maybe the best) 2nd level seats in the NHL.
But overall, the sightlines aren't great, and many fans are a long way away.
Put me in the camp that prefers a building to go more up than out.

With a larger lower bowl, and what looks like 3-4 levels of boxes/restaurants, we're going to probably see half of the dome's seats move up, but not in.
The Flames make it sound like the current "press level" seats will be done away with in the new building, but the reality is, it's probably the Whites, Oranges, and Greens that will be going away. (It's only the pricing of the press level that will dissapear).
The middle belt of the new arena will go to the boxes and restaurants.

Is there a draft dome layout that shows all the different levels?

King wonders why no one got on board with CalgaryNext. This was the only interior rendering of the arena and it looks like a dirty balloon knot. Did a child create this during free time in class? Embarrassing rendering for a professional organization.

Nope that is the real deal. This is what was presented during the initial presentation. Very bush league.

Whole group of people and the politicals have to all collectively pull their heads out of their asses and start to make some moves on this. The embarrassment is each side isn't really truly committed. Lack of leadership and foresight.

I agree, just get it done- as long as STH is not paying 100% increase like the Oilers

Celebrated Square Root Day

What more does the city have to do? They were honest and shot down an idea that never would have worked and would have opened in like 2026 at the earliest even if it did, and now they appear to be putting more effort in than the Flames - you know, the ones who will actually benefit financially - to move an actually feasible project forward.
I know Bingo's all over the "both sides" tangent, but it's simply not true.

The City is putting in work because they want an arena too. They want it badly in a specific area as part of a master plan that they are designing.
