Default Another Cell Phone Thread S6 vs S6 edge vs S5

Hello people,

I need new phone, my Z10 is on it's last legs (and my contract is up). I think I've basically settled on S6 or S6 edge or S5.

I mostly use it for email, voice, occasionally maps, texting, occasional FB and 1 or two sports apps. General browsing included, and I suppose I do save files to my phone like spreadsheets too.

I don't think I need/want the Edge? Is there a distinct advantage? It looks like the S6 has a distinct advantage over the S5, but are there any inherent problems people have experience with either phone?

Thanks in advance,

Battery life is rated to be better on the S5 along with having water and dust proofing.

That's being said, the S6 is superior is every other way if that matters (which might not given a bigger price tag) including camera, screen quality, internal hardware.

Oh and if storage size matters, the S6 and its edge variant come in base 32GB, none expandable with the S5 being 16GB with expandable storage.

You're paying a premium for the S6 edge just for a nice looking gimmick. Unless you want to really show off your phone, it's not worth it.

The S6 reviewed better than the S5 in general, and it'll have a less cumbersome version of Touchwiz installed as well. The S5's biggest weakness to many was that it was trying to do too much and should have focused on being just a smartphone. The S6 has medicore battery life (but has turbocharging, I think?) and looks like a fingerprint magnet and easy to drop.

Personally, I'd go with the S6.

Yeah I went with the S6. I was surprised to see the big Note5 actually had a better battery life by 2 hours.

Seems that the S6 is simply the best all round phone for processing power, so I'm happy. I handled the edge in the store and you are right, it seems gimmicky. It's slightly harder to hold the phone too when typing because of the curved edges.

I've been a life long BB guy and I handled the new Priv... I have mixed feelings about that one. It's basically an android phone on BB hardware. It's a big ass phone, and it's got a slide out keyboard. I think a bit cumbersome for me, plus it's not a true blackberry.

We'll see how the samsung adventure goes.

I went to a S6 recently and it is great. Battery lasts the day with heavy use, the size is not massive, and other positives. I do not like the Samsung software too much but... that might be able to be fixed.

If I was going to change phones and platforms, I would have a VERY hard time not going with an S6 Edge+ in silver titanium.

S6 normal in black for me. I'm not the flashy type.
