Default Ice Caps back to Winnipeg, Bulldogs to St. John's.

Pending AHL approval. One expects that Winnipeg's return to the AHL is only temporary until Thunder Bay is ready to go.

Tied up into this is Darryl Katz's lawsuit with the owner of the OHL's Erie Otters and his hopes of moving that team into Hamilton.

There is also rumor/speculation that the Canadiens will eventually move their AHL affiliate to Laval were a 10000 seat arena is under construction, so the Bulldogs in St. John's may also be temporary.

So Hamilton may lose their AHL team and get (another) OHL team?

I guess they need something in Copps.

Poor St. John's. Every single year they're right there at the top in terms of attendance (and standings, for the matter), but can never keep a team. Feel bad for the fans there.

Being isolated sucks. Especially with everyone moving their AHL affiliate as close as possible.

They should probably tell the Habs to get lost and apply for an ECHL expansion team. Going independent pro would work best for that market, I think.

The AHL is such a complicated business model.

It looks like Katz is going to get control of Copps Colosseum. Why he wants it now since it can no longer be used as a bargaining tool to get the new arena in Edmonton, I don't know. Pretty cut throat business goings on though.

Rumours today that the Belleville Bulls have been purchased by the owner of Hamilton Bulldogs and they will move to Hamilton.

Yeah I just heard on Bob McCowen that the Bulls will be moving to Hamilton. The good news is that Katz has been foiled in his plans to gain control of the Hamilton arena.

Wasn't he gonna move the Erie Otters there? Swear i read that somewhere recently. I'm guessing he didnt want to deal with all of Katz's legal fiasco. Its a shame that the bulls are moving though, i remember watching them in Belville as a kid.

Katz seems bent to gain a stranglehold on Canada's worst cities. Watch out Oshawa, you're next!
