Default Cory Conacher

Anyone heard of this guy??? He is a small player who has gone undrafted and is now 21. He is the only unsigned player in the AHL right now who is scoring at a point per game pace (15 in his first 13 games) Is he worth taking a flyer on??

Couldn't find much of him on youtube:

The guy is still unsigned and sits 3rd in AHL scoring. He's tops right now in rookie scoring and would be a great replacement for the contract spot gained by getting rid of Hagman.

I'm surprised he doesn't have a contract with the Lightning (was one of their top players in camp and on the lightning's farm team)

If he doesn't, I have no idea what Feaster is waiting for.

Just an update, Conacher was signed on March 1st by the Lightning.

Two year / two way - $871,250 NHL / $70,000 AHL

Will be interesting to see how he develops, as he is currently 2nd in AHL scoring, as a 22 year old rookie. (34g - 38a - 72p in 67 games)

Hopefully Feaster and Co. find some college kids like this, and get them signed.

Good for Lightning...

At least it gives us hope for Johnny Hockey that in spite his size, he can be an effective NHLer. Just needs to put on some weight.

Cory Conachar - 5'8, 179pds
Johnny Hockey - 5'6 , 150pds (also 4 years younger)

Watching Conacher is interesting because although you know that he's small, you don't notice it that much. He plays a relentless game, he crashes the net, he goes to the dirty areas ... that has surely helped him make the team instead of Tyler Johnson, who is of similar size and actually put up even better numbers for their farm team than Conacher.

Johnson, Conacher and Marchessault-Audy are all undrafted, small FA players that will be NHL players. You need to take the risk on these smaller guys once in a while.

maybe Steven Whitney; 5'7, 162lbs forward
undrafted senior putting up numbers at BC

Rylan Schwartz is a player the Flames had interest in, as did the Blues (Jaden's older brother)
5'10, 200lbs center who plays for Colorado College; another undrafted senior

True, but I don't think it makes sense for any one organization to take a chance on a lot of small players at a time.

See 2011-12 Montreal Canadiens.
