I don't think it's Matt Matczak, I think it's Mike Matczak. I can't find any info on eliteprospects or hockeydb (or Google for that matter) on a Matt Matczak.

Under this year's roster of the Kalamazoo Wings, there's a Mike Matczak who's a defenseman and has played 23 games and has gotten 6 points.

According to Ward, Drew McKenzie is sort of supposed to be Brodie's replacement. He's more of an offensive-minded defenseman.
