Could just be an insurance thing in case Stone and Hamilton are both out.
I hope he's in but there's probably a good chance he sits and Wideman is in.

Well obviously, we will have to see who is out longer between Stone and Hamilton. I suspect Hamilton is going to play. It's my hope that Rasmus takes Stones spot instead of wideman

It's just been explained - it doesn't work that way. Unless Calgary decides, for some reason, to change the type of callup. I don't see them doing that, otherwise they'd have done it already.

Only thing we know for sure is two of the following Dmen will dress in the game against the Jets:
Hamilton
Stone
Andersson
Wideman
We just don't know which two, and likely won't know until right before the game.

If their intent is to sit wideman for eternity, I do not see how it's a big deal to spend one of the 4 regular call ups on andersson.

Sounds like he's been working on getting in shape. I hope to see Rasmus Andersson out there instead of Fatmus Sandwichsson.

very excited to see andersson play. he's been the best defenseman in all the rookie camp games i've watched, and showed very well in his first nhl preseason right after his draft. i hope he gets a few games and plays as well as he can and gives us options for re-forming the bottom 3 d next year.
also hope that the injuries heal soon.

either way, very happy for Andersson. Getting a recall over NHL experienced guys like Kulak and Wotherspoon as well as more pro experienced guys like Kylington must feel pretty great given the criticism he received last summer over his conditioning. Must have worked hard in Stockton. Think BT nailed the 2nd round in 2015 with Rasmus and Kylington, hope he does well if he gets to play.

The way I understood the 'Emergency Call-Up' is that Andersson can only play if the Flames are unable to dress 6 x D-men. In otherwords, Wideman takes 1st priority, and then Andersson draws in if a 2nd spot opens up.

Right, so they would have done it that way from the get-go - that was my point.
Thinking again, though, they might have done it because they could based on the uncertainty so far. If Hamilton is cleared, that's decision time.
I just don't see them sitting Wideman in favour of a guy who is untried at this point in the season.

I don't see them sitting him either, even tho that's the best option if Hamilton is good to go. I haven't seen Andersson play an entire game but he should be better thank Wideman if he's one of our top prospects. Should be a lot better. We'll see, best to just keep Wideman off the ice.

I think it's more a function of Kulak being "unavailable". Left/righty pairings aside, I can see them eventually bringing in Kulak as a "regular" call-up instead of using it on Andersson now. That will allow them to permanently put Wideman back in the press box.
