Flames RFA budget
So now that the draft has passed a's has July 1st the Flames have 17 players for around 65.5 signed. Bennett, Ferland, and Lazar are what's left to be signed to NHL deals. I expect that the Flames will try to get the three of them done for a combined 7 million in AAV. They'll need about 1.5 for two depth guys and be about 1 under the cap on day one.
I don't see why Bennett should get more than 2 on a 2 year deal, but if a team offers him 4 they lose a 1st and 2nd round pick. So that might up his price. Ferland also should get 1.85 per over 2-3 years, again from 1.95 to 3.95 or so is only a 2nd round pick. I'd rather Ferland but if someone gave him 2.5 per for 3 years I'd let him go. The Flames already paid a 2nd for Lazar, but again 1.5 for two years is a generous offer in my eyes.
I'm a bit light I think. If they can come in at 6 good. 7 or more would be stretching things.

Fernandez is the shortstop the flames need but dont deserve.
Seriously though, I have Bennett and Ferland at 3 years each.
That way they are up for raises same time that Frolik and Brouwer contracts expire.
2.5 Bennett
1.5 Ferland
Lazar on a one year show me deal right around his QO of 874k

I think that Fernandez is going to cost so much that we may need to trade Ferland.

My ballparks are Lazar $1.25M-$1.75M, Ferland $1.5M-$2.25M, and Bennett $2M-$3.5M. Lots of volatility with Bennett's figures depending on the term of the deal IMO.
I hope the three of them are signed to something like a $6M-$6.5M cap hit this season.

Ferland easily gets 3.5+ on the open market imo
2.8-3 per year 4 years is fair. I am sure his camp will go for a longer term given his style of play and the flames would want 2 or 3 years so I see 4 years being the term they agree on.
Seeing the posts above me, I feel that these are numbers we want as fans of the team but are a bit light.

Bennet at 3 years gets way more than that, likely $3.5M.
These are more like one year deals, IMO.

Except Ferland is not on the open market which results in overpayment. He has really not done much except for the short period of time he has played with the 2 best forwards on the team. He shouldn't get anymore then a 2 year deal worth 1.5 - 1.75/year. Committing 4 years to an inconsistent player is silly.

Way too high on all 3.
Ferland $1.8-$2.2/yr on a 3 year deal.
Bennett $2.4/yr on a 2 year deal
Lazar $0.9 on a 1 yr deal.

Agree on Bennett re: volatility based on term. There's no way he wants to sign a 3 year deal for $2M per. And the team is probably not going to want to give him what he would want for 3 years. Which leads me to suspect a one or two year deal.
One year: $1.75M
Two year: $2.5M

Ferland arguably had a better year than Bennett and absent where they were drafted would command similar money.
I will be surprised if either signs for more than 2 years, 3 maximum.

Ferland: 2 x $1.75M or 3 x $1.95M
Lazar: 1 x $750K or 2 x $1M

I'd say Lazar is a one year contract at around 1m. Bennett and Ferland probably both 2 years around 2.5m.

Agree with all those saying $1 mil or less for Lazar. He hasn't done anything to warrant more money than what he made on his last contract.

Kassian is the easy comparable for Ferland. A year older, but almost twice as many NHL games played (and that's with missing half a season after his car wreck). They had nearly identical stats last season.
Kassian just signed for three years at $1.95 million.

I would give Ferland that, no problem. But hoping for 3 x $1.75M, just 'cause Oilers.
