I know he's no longer a Flame but I was watching the Monsters/Rampage game last night and saw some stats about Knight since the trade.

In 4 games he has 2G and 3A, a plus 3 and 10 shots.

Looks like he's continuing to do well for himself.

Yeah kinda liked Knight but hopefully Shore makes us forget about him.

I suppose sometimes players amp up their game after they get traded and are feeling upset about it? It's a possibility, but perhaps Knight is just on a higher line with San Antonio than he was with Adirondack.

Actually Knight was one of the hotter players on Adirondack at the time of the trade, which made it sting more. He had 3G, 1A in 4 games prior to that trade and coming back from injury.

doesn't look like it. AHL already announced he wouldn't be attending and a replacement was named

If you're a goalie, playing in an All Star is more of a punishment than a reward.

Flames have recalled Wolf, Baertschi and Wotherspoon.

It's sounding like Carr will be returned to Colorado shortly.

Drury, Caged, etc....

I noticed Sieloff dressed the other night but it was his first game since December 31st, was he banged up?

Also, how has he looked this season. Does he look like he has any chance of becoming a useful NHLer at some point?

I believe he was. Nothing was formally announced as him being injured, but I can think of a few occurrences where he blocked a shot and they either got up very slowly or was noticeably favouring that body part the rest of the evening (hand, leg). I think he was nursing some sort of injury.

Health is a big concern with him. He's constantly getting banged up, whether small things or larger injuries that keep him out. It's hard to judge his play when he is out being hurt or when he does play, given very sheltered minutes. I don't think he's played a minute heavy game in a couple months now and he hasn't earned a full time D-man spot, he was still rotating with the first year guys. He desperately needed to stay healthy this year to catch up on what he lost last year with the injury and he can't.

I'm starting to become skeptical of him making the NHL at this point. I don't think he has the durability to play against those caliber players.

As Drury said, Sieloff needs to stay healthy. He hasn't been bad in the games he's played, but he hasn't been good either. I'm considering this season to be more of a rehab season for him because he's trying to get back into shape. However, he needs to find that next level otherwise he'll just be a roster filler guy. He's basically looking like a future Engelland more than anything substantial at this point and he would need to improve a lot in order to hit that level.

If I had to guess whether or not he'd be an NHL player, I'd say no.

let's not forget that he is a 20 year old defenseman who missed pretty much the entire season last year.

If he's not looking promising at 22, I'll be concerned. Right now, not so much.

I was just reading an article and he's almost missed 2 full seasons due to injury:

- Hand/Leg Injury (missed most of January 2015)
- Staph Infection (wiped out 2013-14 season)
- Broken Cheekbone (pre-season September 2013)
- Groin Injury (ended 2012-2013 season early in Feb 2013)

That would all be in the 18-20 age range where he should be doing some of his major development and he lost almost all of that time.

Edit: I want to point out, I'm not trying to pile on the guy. I was surprised to see he had been injured quite a bit before the staph infection as well. He is trying to bounce back from a lot of missed time during the crucial development years. It's not impossible for it to happen, but seeing the previous injuries and that he still is getting injured, it seems pretty daunting that he makes up these 3 years anytime soon. He perhaps ends up being a late bloomer after being able to play 2 full seasons healthy and getting his game back.

Exactly. I'm not concerned that he'll never pan out. It's too early for that. If he doesn't see some considerable improvement on his level of play by this time next year, then you'll probably looking to the next batch of defense prospects to make an impact than being concerned about Sieloff.

We basically traded girgensons for jankowski and sieloff. Ouch.

Way too early to make that assumption.

That makes a pretty big assumption that they weren't going to take Jankowski at 14 overall anyways (which if you believe Feaster and Weisbrod in their interviews after, they were going to do if they used that pick).

LOL. I can only imagine how the hockey world would've reacted to that. Pierre probably would've had a stroke on the spot.

My understanding (which, granted, may be incomplete) is that Feast/Brod were in love with Jankowski. 14th overall came and Buffalo called and offered them a second - which Feaster had publicly discussed try to get back after trading it away in the prior draft - to trade down.

Feast/Brod felt like their cup runneth over and took the deal, and took the player they wanted to take at 14 later (and got Sieloff).

Sieloff's getting banged up all the time isn't a big surprise. He's a small guy who plays a big man's game. That's tougher to do as the players get bigger.

Part of the reason I can see why the Flames considered trying him as a forward so he can try to become a Lance Bouma type guy.
