Default Drowning at Lake Bonaventure

Please! Always be vigilant with kids around water. Drowning is preventable. Hope the little one will be ok. EDIT: The child passed away

Grandparents. Man, that's rough. Can't imagine what they're going through.

Drownings are among the highest causes of death for young children.

My mom just called, the grandparents were her friends and she has seen the little one a few times at the clinic. She just retired from the clinic over by Lake Bonavista and the doctor she worked for was their family doctor. She said she had a bad feeling as soon as she heard the reports.

I cannot even comprehend the lose of a child. Just a terrible tragedy.

So sad and easily preventable. If there is not at least a meter high fence between your child and the water you need to be within arms reach of them at all times.

From the description I heard, it sounds like she was within an arms reach. The child fell in and was not easily visible to rescue in the dark lake water. That was all it took.

It’s a devastating tragedy. Let’s try not to place blame without any information, I’m sure the family members involved will have enough grief and guilt to deal with.

A two year old child drowned here this week as well. Parents reported the child missing and shortly thereafter was found in the pool. Not sure if it was the child’s family pool or not. Heartbreaking.
