Default Did anyone see the odd light hovering over COP tonight?

I was on my balcony looking westward towards COP, there was a hovering light in the sky. Normally I would think it was a plane because I see them all the time from where I am, but it was just hovering, and was reflecting immensely - likely from the sun but oddly bright for the time of day. The shimmer kept going bright and subtle and bright and subtle.

I grabbed some binoculars to see better. What I actually saw was a shining, shark-tooth shaped object with a bright red, non-flashing under carriage which looked absolutely artificial. It then moved what was probably half a kilometer northward - in a remarkably straight line, shone even brighter, and then faded out into nothing very quickly.

I originally thought it was an airplane, but it wasn't moving at all, and didn't have the normal flashing sequential red or green lights. And was definitely too big to be a drone of any kind, especially from the distance I was looking from. The sudden movement in a straight line was the craziest thing. I think I just saw my first UFO.

I haven't been drinking or smoking anything, but I would absolutely like to know what this was.

Anyone else catch this? It was up there for about 5 minutes. I was relatively huge, someone must have seen this as well?

Not any decent camera. Would have had to put it up to my binocular lens for any hope of getting a good picture. Wish I had a high-powered SLR.

It was definitely one of those things where an iPhone camera couldn't capture it without extreme zoom.

Also, har har on the X-Files.

It was a weather balloon. Now STFU!

That's pretty cool though seriously. I hope we get to find out what it was.

Honestly I wish i could have caught that with a high-powered camera. If a potato could have done it I would have conjured up all of its french fry power.

But more seriously, I have called Springbank Airport to see if they know of anything. That thing must have been on their radar, it was something metallic and artificial. Will report what they say if they know anything.

Time was about 9:40 PM, somewhere between Paskapoo Slopes and Springbank, COP is the general waypoint I'm using.

It just made a perfectly straight line in the air when it moved. When it was stationary, it was absolutely still. At least if it was a drone, it would be moving with the wind and adjusting to stay in position. And it made no sound. Usually aircraft at that location in the sky I can hear clearly from my balcony.

Definitely not a helicopter. And STARS wouldn't be in that area simply hovering, it has defined locations while it's in the air (as far as I know). You can also hear a helicopter from that distance.

I'm really kicking myself for not getting at least a ####ty picture with my smartphone. Even a video would have been good. Sorry guys. I'm really just hoping anyone else on the board saw it too. One of the creepiest real life experiences I've had.

There was a (and maybe still is) a B-17 flying out of Springbank airport.

Seems crazy, with the hovering and all, but it would certainly look different than any airplanes we normally see around here/around now. Something moving slowly towards or away from you might look like it's hovering.

The one that was here has a red tail and wing tips, and it is shiny.

I wish it was the B-17! I heard it was in the area last week. The behavior just didn't add up to a plane. Also, I think you would be able to hear that type of plane at the distance I was from it, all planes are rumbling when they're at that point in the sky from where I am. This thing was absolutely silent and was definitely hovering.
