Amber Alert: 2 Year Old Abducted Near Crows Nest Pass

Amber Alert

BLAIRMORE, Alta. -- RCMP have issued an Amber Alert for a missing two-year-old girl in southwestern Alberta.
Police say Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was abducted early Monday morning from the town of Blairmore.
Mounties say they don't know who took the child.
The suspect fled west in a newer model white van with a large rear antenna, with a flag attached.
Hailey is described as white, with light brown, straight hair with bangs, and brown eyes.
Blairmore is south of Calgary in the Crowsnest Pass near the B.C. boundary.

Scary stuff. Hope they find her ok. Lots of questions to be answered, including why was she not reported missing until after 11 if she was taken at 3:30?

Says the mother is not with her.

I can't think of a worse thing than a complete stranger taking a kid.

Becuase no one else was in/around the house. Incident happened around 03:30hrs, and then the father's body was discovered (and the child missing) at approx 11:00hrs.

I didn't know they were the only ones in the house, I hadn't read that. And how did they know the vehicle, I'm guessing one of the neighbors saw it but didn't know the situation at the time?

As a father I couldn't imagine having my child taken away. So damn scary.

Really sad story. Hopefully it's the obvious and the mother hired someone to kill the dad to get full custody and the kid is safe. Really the only thing that makes sense.

Police say they're treating her fathers death as a homicide. And the mother is still alive.

Unfortunately, when considering all the possible scenarios, that's probably the best one for the safety of the girl.

That's been ruled out. The mother has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

The large antenna with a flag sounds more like a safety flag for construction or rig sites. I think 99.9% of the time you see these on pickups so hopefully someone somewhere recognizes or remembers a white van with one.
