It's not the bridge that bothers me. Well maybe a little because it's a dumb design.

It's the extra commute. Alex Fraser is even longer.

I believe that would be the incentive they need for you to use the toll road!

(And also why the Golden Ears is not doing as well...too many options in that area.)

It does only take a pic of the front. You'll never see a letter as they can't trace the car.

BC rental car? You're hooped. AB rental car? Toll-free.

I was under the impression that the toll bridge for BC was only applicable for people in that province, and that the rest of Canada was exempt from paying the toll. Either way, I crossed the bridge in 2013 and 2015, and was never send a bill.

Which bridge is that for? For the Port Mann, I thought the construction cost was funded entirely by the province, and they'd use tolls until 2050 to recover the costs. Since the NDP wants to eliminate the tolls, would they be able to do this if a 3rd party was getting the money?

For Golden Ears there is a payback time of 32 years. I think the tolls go towards this, as the funds were not paid up front by the province. If the tolls are not enough, Translink has to pay the shortfall. If tolls are eliminated, then I assume Translink would have to pay the full amount to the builders until 2040.

Be careful if you ever need to use your insurance.

I was just there and I paid the toll on line. I would have taken the chance but it's a rental and they tack on $20 if they get a bill.

Just so you know the Port Mann is managed by Treo and the golden ear. By translink so you may get two bills, or none. Let us know how it turns out. We are in Sk and don't have front plates so it would be good to know.

All the toll roads in Seattle are bypass-able.

That's what I was getting at with my first post in this thread. Seattle offers you a toll road and a free road that are both reasonable alternatives to each other. Toll road tends to be less congested, so if you are inclined to get somewhere faster, just pay the toll.

In Vancouver you have no choice to get to Coquitlam area from Langley/Surrey without using one of the toll bridges. Patullo is too far out of the way to be considered a reasonable alternative.

Update - it's been just over a month since I used the toll bridges in the lower mainland and still no bill in the mail.

Looks like starting Sep 1 the BC NDP will be eliminating toll bridges in Vancouver. http://globalnews.ca/news/3695929/nd...e-tolls-today/
