How much is the next portion of the ring road going to cost? Between these two projects 'dats a lot of money.

When has that ever stopped the NDP from spending money?

With the expanded scope of the SW portion, the west leg is relatively short. I'd say a little under $1b.

Sorry I meant to say the current RR portion already under construction. But you bring up a good point about the cost of the final link.

Alberta Givernment confirmed their portion of the funding, so this project is now fully funded. Construction to start in 2020.

Why would it take 3 years to start after all the studies they've done up to this point?

Because the horizontal alignment and vertical alignments were only fully approved recently in the area where there isn't reserved right of way. The right of way is reserved past Beddington Trail.
This is why having that Nose Creek alignment until only recently was so damaging, and why having a well thought out long-term transit plan is so important. In the times that there isn't funding or something else is getting built, the City can buy up properties strategically to lessen the work when it comes time to actually build.
A perfect example is the old Brick store property on the SE corner of 16th Avenue and Centre Street. It was purchased as part of the 16th Avenue improvement (widening) project 10 years ago, the building demolished and then the remaining land sold off, and then only a few years later, the Green Line alignment was chosen through that area, and that property would be a really strategic one to have now.

The province isn't paying it; every Albertan is. All the funding from the province is coming from the Alberta Carbon Tax. Now, whether that remains once the NDP lose the next election is a different question.

Are you implying that the non-carbon tax revenue money that the province has isn't money from Albertans?
Also the carbon tax isn't going anywhere, it will be implemented federally and no matter how badly Brian Jean and Jason Kenney want people to believe they'll be successful in court fighting the Feds, it's very unlikely to happen.

How do you approach a conversation with a premise like this?

Epic video posted by police today on FB and Twitter. Video shows a guy slapping the phone out of the victims hand and then assaulting him. There are about a half dozen other citizens on the train and they all go on ignore mode.
Sad that nobody can press the emergency call button to try and help this guy out and try and get the perp arrested for a night or two.

This really grinds my gears, are we that scared to help others out now? Christ no one though hey maybe we should hit the help button. Also the second guy who puts the phone back on the bench and just leaves it there. Hold onto it for pete sake until the dude can gather himself after all of this, don't just leave it on the bench and let the perp take it away.

It's probably already posted but is there an estimate for how long the trip from the south health campus station to downtown will be? Seems like a long trip after watching the video on the city website, although it can't possibly be worse than driving during rush hour.

Re: LRT to the airport
I stumbled on this post regarding Airport transit.
( I don't think anyone has posted it before)
Keys to Great Airport Transit
http://humantransit.org/2016/03/keys...t-transit.html
One of the points discussed:
Total travel time matters, not just in-vehicle time. Airports are citadels of impatience. Travel time matters hugely, but travel time is not just in-vehicle time (the time you’ll see advertised) but total time including waiting. That’s why the advantage of making few stops is wildly exaggerated. To accurately measure real travel time, add the in-vehicle travel time to half the waiting time, where the latter is governed by frequency. You may find that a more frequent train that stops more often (and is therefore useful to more people) comes out ahead even for the downtown-to-airport traveler.
Other points include:
- Combine air travelers and airport employees on the same train/bus, and appeal to an economically diverse range of air travelers, not just the elite.
- Connect the airport to lots of places, not just downtown, by providing a total network.
- Don’t interfere with the growth of other services.
- If you can afford it, go via the airport instead of terminating there.

And these cars are expected to be slower than the existing fleet.
I think I saw 34 minutes from North Point on one of these a few years ago.
I didn't look at the Seton Leg, but the SE is allot further away.

Can anyone tell me what they are doing to the bus stops along 18th street in Quarry Park? They are filling in the bus stop indentations (where the bus pulls in so as to not hold up traffic) with concrete, and building a new higher than regular road curb that looks similar to an LRT station edge (but lower), complete with yellow safety strip on the top edge. How is this better than what was there previously?
