I agree. Moved to Kelowna this year and seen him play about 8 times. My scouting ability is pretty limited. With that said you can see when somebody is playing above the level.

The comparable that I will give, of somebody playing above the level, not in style, is Joel Edmundson (to add a comparable from my own viewing). I watched him with the Blazers and you could just see he was too good. He did not have a lot of fanfare but is now playing a significant role with the Blues.

The way Foote sees the game, I have no doubt that he will have an NHL career.

Now to throw something else out there, watch out for his brother, Nolan. Still a couple years from even being drafted, he tore up as a 16 year old with Kelowna. Think he could be a top five in 2019.

Best comparable for Foote is Brent Seabrook.

You might be right, but to me he profiles much more as a Michael Stone type player. I just don't see Foote as having top pairing potential, I also don't think you will see much offense from Foote at the NHL level.

Most dmen picked in the mid first don't have top pairing potential. If you get a top 4 you've done well

Care to explain? Last Word on Hockey has him at #46.

Joseph is a pretty good junior player, but he's only a six-footer and doesn't really show the offense to justify taking him that early. I think if you're going to take a D-man at 16, there is better options.

I will be at the draft drunk as I was the last two years so I will continue to bring the flames good luck. Dougie Hamilton in Fort Lauderdale and Tkachuk in Buffalo.

I know it's a reasonably common occurrence but I think there'll be someone at 16 we didn't expect to be there and haven't really talked about much. I think Suzuki will go earlier than most expect and perhaps a run on d men will leave one of the 8 to 12 ranked guys there for us.

Jets willing to move #13 overall pick

Quote:
This year, with the Jets sitting at 13th, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff could be persuaded to part with the pick.
"In this situation here and moving forward, we’re open to anything and if the right situation’s there, we’ll look at it," Cheveldayoff told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun. "We’ve drafted four players in the first round in the last two years, so we had [Logan] Stanley and Laine and [Kyle] Connor and [Jack] Roslovic. So if there is the right situation that can help us, whether it’s a piece or pieces, we’ll certainly look at it.”

Obviously I would like the Flames to move up if possible, just don't think the available peices are there to make it happen.

Has to be a reason though. Maybe somehow someone like Cody Glass is still on the board, then it would be wise to exercise your options to move up. Honestly, at this point though, I'm pretty sold on Robert Thomas for forwards. I just love the kids game. Think he has some Krejci / Giroux in him. Started in the bottom six and ended the year on the top line. RHS, really young, great passer and overall two-way forward. I wouldn't mind dropping back a few spots to pick up a second (to flip on Raanta) and then to take Thomas early to mid 20's.

I wonder if there is any realistic way for the flames to trade up if a guy they love drops to 12-14 with the midrounders dealt away already. You dont tend to see prospects accepted in deals like that recently... The currency seems to be a 2nd or a 3rd.

How would you feel about trading up to nab Suzuki?
