I guess we'll see if they honour that price I bought mine at. Last time I ordered a GPS at such a price I had the "order confirmed" email; then they told me they could not fill the order after all. I had a bit of a fight with the overseas support people trying to explain to what the word "confirmed" means in English.

That Sharp Aquos today looks like a hell of a deal. If only I wasn't so poor.

yeah, bought a fancy camera from them in the summer only to discover the airmiles a couple hours later and couldn't do anything about it, tried calling dell, airmiles, even tried to cancel and re-order but already got processed.

it's a lot of airmiles for big purchases, kinda rationalizes the purchase for me anyways... thats probably the idea though

So I just bought the monitor, and went through the airmilesshops.ca site, but there's no confirmation or anythign like that. Dell didn't even have a place for me to put in my collector number - even though on the other window it says I'm all ready to shop.

How do I know that it actually worked?

I will be pretty pissed if the air miles were not credited.

As long as you go through the airmiles shop they will sort it out on their end since dell will see that the referral came through that link, that's my understanding of the process anyways.

I see the have an APC UPS on sale today ... Ive been thinking I need one since I now live on an acreage and have had a couple hardware failures in a the past 18 months. I am thinking that the powerbar/surge protector may not be adequate.

How do you know what size of UPS to get? The one on sale says it outputs 450 watts. My PC Powersupply is 850 watts. Do I need a UPS that outputs 450 Watts also?

My PC is quite a power hog... an i7 with 2 GTX 460s, 6 SataII hdds ...

What size UPS should I be looking for?

APC has a neat graph on their site which gives you the run-time of the UPS given a specific output.

http://www.apc.com/products/resource...otal_watts=200

That one has a max output of 450W it says, not to mention a runtime of a couple of minutes at that output. Though if the power goes out and you're playing a game drawing full power a couple of minutes is probably enough to exit gracefully.

As for your system, even though you have an 850W power supply, you probably aren't drawing all that power.

Each video card has a max power rating of 160W, your processor is anywhere from 80 to 130W, each drive is probably 6-7W under load. Add in other stuff, and you're probably right around that 400-450W mark full load. Also keep in mind that many power supplies are less than 80% efficient, so a system using 450 will actually draw 20% or more more!

So while usually the power draw is far less than the rating of the power supply, in this case I'd say you're probably beyond the comfortable range of that UPS, even if you are using it just for power filtering and not actually running for any length of time without power.

The best way to tell is to get one of those watt meters, they're usually pretty cheap now.

Anybody else order a Harmony remote the other day? Just wondering if we all got the dreaded "We regret to inform you of a delay in your recent Dell order" email; or if its just me.

Edit- nevermind- I just got the email telling me it shipped.

Anyone have any experience with the P2411? Looks pretty new. It's got the exact same stand as my U2311 (which is awesome), but it's LED backlit instead of an IPS panel.

I wouldn't get the video card at all.

New generation has come out. 5770 is basically obselete. Mem ex sells the GTX 460 1GB at around 150-160 that is a lot better in every single way. This isn't even mentioning the 6850 and other new but cheap cards that blow it out of the water.

Almost wish I bought the U2711 instead of the U2410 now haha...great deal on the monitor.
