Default Wireless Router issues

I have a cisco wrt160n v3 router with up to 4 computers accessing.

My PC is wired in and 3 are wireless.

The wireless computers are super slow and I can't figure out why! Any advice or recommendations? How do you log in to the router through your browser?

Thank you in advance for assistance!

Try typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. By chance are there
any devices trying to connect that use 802.11b or g? And tell me
you are running WPA2 or at least WEP.
Found a web page that could really help.

Thanks buddy.

Yes I have security enabled.

Thanks for the address!

Looked up 802.11b before I posted here but the wireless cards only have that capability but are not enabled.

Go into the modem settings (192.168.1.1 as mentioned) and change the frequency close to one end of the spectrum. If left on default you could be getting interference from a neighbor or even something in your house.

Just to expand on that, you might want to download a program called a network stumbler, which allows you to see all of the available wireless networks in your area and what channel they're on.

Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the only channels where there is no overlapping frequency so it's best to set your wireless router's channel to the least used of the three. So start up that network stumbler (NetStumbler for example) and then find out which of those three channels is the least occupied in your area, and then set it to that.

Hopefully that helps.
