Me two days ago: "Feck, I wish I'd have held off putting the car on storage insurance so I could enjoy it a bit more."
Me today: "Nevermind, the extra $172 a month in savings is worth missing two nice days."

If it felt mild... that was the warmest December in Calgary history by a huge margin.

They're not equivalent. It would be more like -30 vs +40.

The debate is highly colored by access to Air Conditioning. IMO, if you have heating and air conditioning available to make inside comfortable, then -30 is far worse because dipping outside for short periods to do anything can still be pleasant in +40 but is virtually impossible to find pleasant in -30.

Conversely, without access to AC, +40 makes everything to a hellscape and deprives you of will to move entirely.

Yeah, now that I’m one of the washed I’ll take rolling heat waves for 3 months straight no problem, but the forecast this week fills me with dread.

+30 is warm enough to make it hard to sleep if you don't have AC. It isn't all that dangerous at that temperature like -30 is so in that respect I'd say you're right, but when it comes to just comfort I can escape the cold far easier than I can the heat.

Unsurprisingly, it is always a heated one.

I just think that when the weather is such that it will, without a doubt, result in multiple people dying, and that weather state is being compared to one that won't produce numerous casualties, the preferable option is a fait accompli.

Once you get above +40, that's where you're seeing similar outcomes for a lot of people... any higher and you get headlines like "Lytton BC no longer exists".

People do all kinds of things in the name of comfort that have negative outcomes for people.

My preferring cold weather does nothing to actually affect the weather so I think I'm in the clear ethically.
