For the people who likes the mission belt, you can buy similar ones off aliexpress for less then over half the cost.

Yup, I got one from Amazon.ca for $27 CAD. Still good quality although I haven't tried the actual Mission brand.

So much better than regular belts.

A digital kitchen scale. These things are indispensible for portioning out things like ground beef prior to freezing; and also very useful when used in conjuction with dieting apps like MyFitnessPal.

Or baking, or really anything. Excellent purchase.

It's great for counting multiple things that all have identical mass.

But if anybody is a fan of Alton Brown's, "Good Eats", he preaches weight vs volume for most recipes.

How N. America became so tied to cooking by volume is beyond me. It leads to huge variations in recipes, which can be disasterous for baking, and annoying for cooking.

"1/2 cup almonds". Well how tightly should I pack them in the cup measure? Could be a little to a lot of air in between. Same thing with things that are cut/diced. If my mushrooms are cut up larger and stacked inefficiently, there can be a huge variance in amount of mushrooms; same thing applies (and most infuriating) to fresh herbs.

"1/2 cup brown sugar" so maybe its packed, but how packed?

"heaping teaspoon" now when you say heaped, are we talking Saskatchewan hill or Everest?

"1/4 cup melted butter" Is this 1/4 cup butter, melted? Or 1/4 melted butter. I hate having to play the grammar game to cook.

$15 gas station sunglasses....I lose and break so many pairs but any time I buy cheap sunglasses they last. As my eyes are fairly light sensitive I have to wear them most the time....eventually I may buy some fancy aviator ones but I know they will get lost or broken so its gas station sunglasses 4 life.

I picked up a few USB outlets at Costco, I think it was $26 for a pack of 2, plus tax. We've installed four total, one on each side of the bed, one in the kitchen island and one in the garage. So far they've gotten a lot of use with no end in sight.

That's a good price. Home Depot sells a similar item for $26 each.

This thing... Makes slicing cheese so much better than using a knife like a caveman. The wire / roller thingy works great.

The wire always gets bent. Frustrating.

I love to eat Gouda and it's soft so the scraper one doesn't work well and the wire one works great but always bends and breaks

Thanks - I ordered one. My vacuum is from the fifties, and as cool as it is perhaps this will do me fine. Was always astonished at the price of vacuums

A plain cheese wire might be better. Plus they can be used for all sorts of thing: cream cheese, cakes, etc. Haven't found one in Calgary though.
