Best produce in Calgary?
Is it just me or has the quality of the produce at CO-OP been pretty bad this summer ? I have always bought my produce from there but am now looking for other stores with quality fruits and vegetables.
Any recommendations?

I've found save-on to have pretty good produce, since opening on McLeod (haven't shopped at any other save-on, so I'm not sure if that's typical).

The strawberries and raspberries are almost always past due at Walmart. Sometimes at Superstore too. Calgary Farmers Market is probably the best place for produce.

Community natural foods, but they are damn expensive if you buy out of season produce.

Personally I've always been super disappointed by Community produce, at least at the Chinook branch. I've given up ever shopping for produce there - maybe they've gotten better?

Yea, I don't know about the Calgary locations, but Save On in Lethbridge has a very high standard for their produce. I used to work there, and the amount of stuff they threw away was ridiculous. Most places sell stuff that's in worse shape than Save On throws away.

Go early in the morning. I shop at superstore and can get good stuff in the morning but if you go in the afternoon it's pretty picked over

Agree on Chongos as well, along with all the local farmer produce there as well.

Yeah the Chinook branch kind of sucks, the Crowfoot one is really good. The Chinook one is a clusterf of a store.

My normal Safeway (North Hill) used to be really good but has dropped a lot in quality in the last couple months. Rightly or wrongly I'm blaming Sobey's for that....
Was at the Southland Co-Op a month ago and found the produce to be it's usual 1st class stuff.
I may have to start going to Co-Op Midtown. Given the OP's comment, I'm curious to see if it's a problem with the stores here or if growing conditions are just that bad for everyone.

DJ's market on 12 st se (where Rockys burger bus used to be) has a really nice selection of stuff and often things I had/have never heard of.
They also carry hutterite pickled goods, pies, and chickens among other things.
Open well into November as a bonus.

Very bad year for a lot of produce. The weather has affected many crops in California and other places. Produce doesn't come from a factory. The local farmers have some nice things and Co-op does support the local growers. Lots of Hutterite stuff too. Just be flexible on what you eat.
