Looks like the Cecil is slated for demolition:

The neon sign will be saved for future use.
I'd like to say that I care, but I really don't. Out with the old, in with the new.

Yeah, it looked like it was always kind of a plain building. I don't think anyone would be wowed by a restored version of the Cecil.

This is a good map to quick reference the inner-city developments as it includes both commercial and residential projects. Some of the information is out of date but it's pretty good for the most part.

I walked by a Canadian Tire Express in Toronto and wondered what the deal was. Looked pretty cool, and this is something the beltline is lacking. Have to go up to the hardware store in Hillhurst or the Home Depot on 16th ave N currently if I needed something.

A link to the building they are going into is below:

Not a bad design, just listed with the wrong brokerage

This is great - I too hate the fact that everything is within walking distance except a walmart/canadian tire/home depot type store! It surprises me that the Coops or Safeways don't expand a bit on just groceries in the downtown market.

I'm excited to see this in Beltline as well. I doubt we'll use it often, but it may replace car trips to Home Depot, Costco or Walmart on occasion, which will make me happy. I'm still a bit grumbly about how tall that new residential tower is, I feel like it'll stick out a lot on the west side of 8th St. and would rather see the tall towers kept on the east side of 8th, but that's just my opinion.

What's the condo unit this building is associated with? That looks pretty damn convenient. It's a block from 17th and beside London Drugs and the Canadian Tire and this fancy grocery story is also in it?

I believe it is the Royal but have not had a chance to read the article... only one that makes sense based on location.

Procura has updated the design for their property at 505-513 11th Avenue SW. Originally a one tower proposal called H20 the development is now proposed as a two tower project called Procura Grand:

I have strong doubts about this happening anytime soon though.

Why the doubts? Just general market issues/developer? Because it doesn't really look particularly ambitious.

Call it a hunch based on the market, the developer, and their previous track record with this site in the last boom before a recession.

Yawn. Enjoy the height for a few years. Oxford will exceed it when it eventually gets built. That or The Gateway project should be taller

It looks like there's some sort of ornament/spire at the top so I think the roof height will probably be lower than Brookfield if that image is accurate.
