Found Dog - Braeside
Just found this guy, saw him wandering my street then eventually came right over to my front step. No sign of anyone looking for him, my neighbor doesn't recognize him.
I'm going to be busy for the next few hours but he has food and water, will get back to searching for the owners asap. Just wanted to post here because I remember reading about a lost pets twitter account.

Can someone post this Kijiji link to that facebook page? I'm not a facebook person.
He's super friendly and having fun hanging out here at my place but time to find out where he came from.

If you haven't already, you should contact Animal Services and let them know you have a lost dog. That's the first place the owners will probably call once they realize their pet is gone.

Went for a run in the dogpark right behind my house and talked to a few people, no word of anyone out there searching recently. Kept him on the leash but he's really quick, he can snatch a ball out of the air like a pro.
To bad everyone is closed right now, will be making calls tomorrow.

And please pass on the following to the person who found him Thank you so much for keeping this furkid safe. Please ensure proof of ownership if someone claims. You could take him/her to an emerg 24 hour vet, they will check for a tattoo or microchip free of charge (not all tattoos are visible and only a vet can scan for microchip information.) If it is within business hours you can call 311 and they will pick up. Also, please do not feed the dog as they may be on a restricted diet for their health. If you haven't already done so, please "like" the YYC Pet Recovery page and your post so that you will receive notifications when people comment.

Why don't more people put their name and phone number on a dog tag and hang it on the dog? It seems like a very simple solution to a common and time consuming problem.

Our dog has the chip in him so if you bring him to a vet they can ID his owner, he also has his City ID tag as well as a QR Barcode on him that if you take a photo with your phone it pulls up our contact information. Oh, and hes got our name and phone number on his collar.
We havent lost him yet, but we're first-time dog owners so we're just taking precautions because if it ever happens that little bastard is fast.

Not a single call after posting the ad and my number on Kijiji and the YYC Pet Recovery Facebook page, I'm a bit surprised. I've also been walking the dogpark with him and asking everyone I see.
I called about getting him scanned for a chip, once you bring a dog in to a vet you have to surrender them and they'll get sent to the Humane Society. I'm a bit torn, I'm happy to have him here while I keep searching and until I call the Humane Society when they open tomorrow. He'll have more fun with me than in a cage for who knows how long.

Tweet the mayor.
Are found pets like found money, if no one claims it after 30 days, you get to keep it?

Just delivered him back to the owners, they called just a few minutes ago after seeing the Kijiji ad.
His name is "Bomber" and he's 4 years old. I sure had fun with him, he was relentless fetching the tennis ball, would not stop, my arm is still sore. I'm gonna miss that little guy!

Props to you for taking care of and hanging out with him while actively looking for the owners, and not just dropping it off at a cage somewhere

This story made my day. Guy finds lost dog. Takes care of him and plays fetch for the afternoon. Missing pup is re-united with his family before dinner time. Awesome!

The owners were only a block away, was nice to know he wasn't wandering the streets for long.
I actually had him overnight, slept quietly on my bed. Such a friendly and playful guy, was a lot of fun looking after him. I might be calling the Humane Society tomorrow to see who they have available.

Haha, after your last post, I was going to say maybe it was a sign that you should get a dog.
