lanny Calgary stores with (cheap) soft drinks made with real sugar

Im looking for soda made with real sugar that I can buy local in Calgary at a cheap price. $0.99 2L pricing, not $3.00 for a 300ml bottle with a fancy label.

The type or source of sugar doesnt matter other than it not being high fructose corn syrup.

Any suggestions? Do any of the grocery store private label brands sell something like this?

As far as I knew almost all soda in Canada is made with sugar. It's the corn lobby that is why the US stuff is corn syrup.
For instance, if you want cheep...

I always look for the Mexican Coke when in the US. It isn't cheap though, I think I usually pay somewhere around $2 per 12oz bottle. So good. Pure cane sugar, no glucose, fructose corn syrup crap.

Unfortunately, non premium pop in Canada is all corn syrup too. They call it "sugar/glucose-fructose." If they were using cane sugar, they would be touting it for sure.

My understanding is that things like Coke are made with sugar, in fact you can taste the difference between US and Canada Coke.

Can't speak to bargain pop.

Also, it is pop, not soda.

The pepsi in glass bottle is made with "real sugar"; Find it at walmart from time to time, but it's only available every few months.

Coke is made with HFCS, they just call it it glucose-fructose here, which I find somewhat sleazy. We saw throwback pepsi with cane sugar a few years ago, which disappeared, showing that most people didn't care. Canadian coke and pepsi is every bit as bad as the US product.

Yeah I never thought it was "good", but didn't know that.

I dunno, every time I have gotten Coke in the US it is undrinkable. So if we are both using HFCS, they must be doing something different.

Try some of the latino supermarkets, they usually stock Mexican Coke.

If you can get it from the source. Otherwise, there's no guarantee it hasn't been stepped on.

I hunted extensively for Pepsi Throwback when it came here twice. Both times I bought almost every case I could get which would last 6 months or so. Pepsi was pretty bad about not advertising it at all and barely stocking it.

They will be higher than $2 per 355 ml bottle. The cheapest I have seen Mexican Coke is $20 US for a 24 pack at Costco in the States.

I too would like to see more pop made with sugar, but it is rare enough, let alone for $1 per 2L.

Didn't 'CocaCola Life' in the green can, eliminate the HFCS?
