Kyrgios with a whopping 16 aces in the first set to get in front of Novak. Fun match so far.

Kyrgios had a serving day for the ages, 25 aces against is the most Novak has ever allowed in a three set match, and of course the match didn't even go three sets. He will likely follow it up with a totally disinterested display in the semis, and we'll still be wondering if he ever puts it together. Incredible talent, without a doubt. He's also, along with Lleyton Hewitt, the only player ever to beat Rafa, Roger and Novak in his first match against them, though Kyrgios obviously got the better versions of those players than Hewitt did.

In Gatineau, Shapovalov and Peliwo are the Canadians in the quarters. Felix lost in R16 yesterday.

Pinty's. Eat well , Live well, Party well.
That one year blip where she made the semis and finals is never coming back. She must have sold her soul to the devil during that stretch. Average serve, average forehand, below average backhand, it took miracles for her to make it as far as she did that year.
Above average looks will keep her in the news for years to come though.

Getting to know our newest Canadian Carson Branstine
http://www.tenniscanada.com/getting-...son-branstine/
16-year-old native of California had been representing her country of birth since she started on the tennis scene. However, Branstine’s mother was born in Ontario, most of her family still lives there, and she has always held dual citizenship. Last year, she decided to make the switch and represent her Canadian roots.
Branstine is currently ranked no. 17 on the ITF junior rankings.

I'm more concerned that this is going to end his ability to compete at a high level. Injury after injury takes its toll on not only the body but the mind as well.

Looking like a lost year for Canadian tennis. Between Milos injuries, the Shapovalov incident, Vasek's ranking collapse and Genie's indifference to anything not social media, and it kinda sucks. King Felix, you cannot come soon enough.

The Shapovalov incident is a non-incident. He was fined and that's the end of it. He just won Gatineau last week.

Yeah, that was a total fluke and really unfortunate, I guess if it had to happen, better for it to be at the relative start of his pro career. Any word on how the umpire is doing, last I heard is that he had to undergo surgery.

Official injured during a bizarre sequence, entire team suffers for the remainder of the season...the Shapovalov effect!

Surprisingly, Pospisil has qualified for the main draw at Indian Wells....good for him. It looks like he plays Lu tonight, a very beatable opponent before a death sentence with Murray in round #2.

Another fairly humiliating loss for Genie, barely over 50% of first serves in, didn't win more than 50% of either first or second serve points, allowed a 70 MPH second serve ace against and generally struggled with a very weak first serve from Beck, and 67 unforced errors to only 30 winners. But hey at least she's now got two weeks to party it up in Miami before another first round loss.

Huge win over Lu for Pospisil in the first round last night (6-7 6-4 6-3). Struggled with his second serve but showed a lot of determination and much more willingness to take the game to the net.
His tournament likely ends against Murray but the big thing on his side is he can swing free and not worry about anything now. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for him. If he can keep building momentum, he might be able to get himself back into the top 100 before roland garros.
