Your assessment of Nemisz is pretty accurate. It's pretty disappointing that he can't do as well in the NHL as he does in the AHL. It is worrisome that he risks being surpassed by other prospects, but I think a full offseason of committing to his foot speed and aggressiveness would put him back at the top of the prospect list. The think with Nemisz is that he's too even-tempered to show meanness on the ice, but it is possible for him to play aggressive while not being mean. That would be very nice to see.
Two quick questions, Freeway:
1. If the Flames still had Holland, where would you place him on your list?
2. Why did you choose to leave Ramo off the list? Is it because he turns 26 on July 1st?

To be fair, Brent was asked about Nemo this morning, and he was very high on how he's fit into his role since his recall.
As for Holland, I'd place him roughly where Ferland is. I've seen a lot more of Ferland than Holland, but I'd say Holland has more "skill" but Ferland plays a more all-around game.
Ramo's off because he's 25+. It's a helpful barrier to have, since I have no idea how to rate KHL goalies.

Not to mention, the Flames seem to have a much more specific notion of what they want their prospects to do to improve, which seems to be a departure from past years.
When Sven Baertschi was sent back to junior, for example, he was given specific things to work on. Same with Bouma, Nemisz, Irving and others. The Flames are also following up with these guys on how they're doing. Having someone like Craig Conroy roaming the world checking in with guys has been a really good thing for development.

Pretty good top 10 in my opinion - I think I had 8 out of 10. I may have substituted Brossoit out for Granlund but even the guys on the fringe probably aren't too far away from cracking the top 10 - interested to see Carter Bancks on there. How do you compare him to a guy like Dustin Sylvester?
The one thing that I think is always difficult is comparing junior level progress vs. AHL or NHL progress. Guys like Nemisz and Byron had similar numbers to some of the guys above them in junior but obviously found that the competition is stiffer at the professional level. Difficult assessment and why sometimes you have to wait for guys to hit the AHL to be able to truly assess them (with the exception of gems like Bartschi of course). Good synopsis - enjoyed reading it.

Markus Granlund gets an assist in his last game of the regular season. Finnish fans, who around the draft weren't too enthused about him, are now very high on him and he has shown an ability to produce away from his brother. He has 29 points in his last 33 games (33 points in 46 games overall, which just goes to show his improvement over the course of the season).
Supposedly, he is the front runner for rookie of the year in the SM-liiga. He really reminds of John Gaudreau in terms of his development. Both started off their respecitve seasons somehwat slow, but once they were able to adjust to the higher level of play, their skill level and hockey sense took over and they're both now among the best players on their respective teams.
He is pretty small at 5-10/163, but he has plenty of time to get bigger.

Johnny Gaudreau scores the game-winner as the Boston College Eagles beat Providence 4-2 to advance to the Hockey East Finals. Bill Arnold had an assist.

Heat lead 2-1 with about 5:00 left in the game.
Heat goal scorers are Howse (from Kolanos and Connelly) and Sylvester (unassisted).
EDIT - damn, beat by LockedOut haha.
EDIT 2 - Heat win 3-1. Wilson got an empty netter from Byron. Good to see Byron back from injury.

Ferland with the only 2 goals for the Wheat Kings in a 2-1 win over the Pats.
Leach with 3 points for the Ice. Doesn't look like Max is playing tonight.

Couldn't find anywhere on his blog what Max is dealing with.

Laurent Brossoit stopped 36 of 38 shots as Edmonton beat Medicine Hat tonight.
Mitch Wahl had two assists as Utah lost 5-2 to Bakersfield. He now has 32 points in 31 games these season for Utah.

Could Joey Leach possibly be our most underrated prospect amongst us fans?

no. People have been high on him since he was drafted. The offensive output was underrated, but he ended up proving quite a bit this season.
I doubt it translates to the pros though. He'd be lucky to top out at 30 pts in the pros. But then again, scouting is an inexact science.
Wotherspoon is another good one. He is having a very good offensive year, considering his previous stats.
If you look at it, all the guys we have in our pool were at one time underrated by our fans, save for SVEn and HOwse. Arnold, Ferland, Reinhart, were underrated at one point.
IMO, NIck Larson is probably the most underrated. I think he will make a better pro than amateur. He reminds me of a david moss, with less positional versatility.
