Glencross out 6 weeks
More tough injury news for the Calgary Flames — winger Curtis Glencross is out six weeks with a second-degree MCL sprain, according to the club’s Twitter account.
Glencross was hurt Tuesday versus Minnesota. The 30-year-old has five goals and four assists this season, his nine points ranking him tied for fourth in team scoring.
Add to the equation defenseman Mark Giordano is out 6-8 weeks with a broken ankle and winger Lee Stempniak is out a few more weeks with a broken foot — both those players have nine points as well — and the team that not many expected to be competitive, even if healthy, has a serious challenge ahead of it.
The Flames have lost seven of their last 10 after a surprising 3-0-2 start. Their next game is tonight in St. Louis against a Blues side that’s only lost twice in regulation all season.

Crap. I don't care what anyone else says in this thread, I like Glencross. This sucks.

Brutal, but a huge opportunity for some young guys.

This may bode well with the plan - veterans getting injured, and the team can actually aim for finishing last in the league....

As a guy who has seen this movie…about 4 times over…I'd caution you over your excitement at the Trailer.

Yeah, but our movie wouldn't be directed by Kevin Lowe so we won't have to try to decipher all the "hurrrrrr durrrrr durrrr."

Here's a sobering reality. After a much-better-than-expected start, we would draft 10th overall if it were held today.
Glencross out 6 weeks
Giordano probably out at least that long.
Stempniak out.
Holes on defence. Goaltending uncertain. Significant downward trend in points-per-game from games 1-8 to 9-15.
After 10 games I said to FDW that there's no way we're getting a top 5 pick this year. I might have to revise that prediction.

Yeah, once you factor in the guys leaving at the deadline it's starting to look more and more likely.

Hate to see anyone get injured, that being said this is a good thing for the team as mayhap someone who will actually give an effort will get his minutes.

All joking aside, I feel bad for Glencross as I never like to see any player hurt...especially a Flame. I hope he comes back healthy and on fire and like albert said, just in time to be traded. He's a good player when he's on but I think he's being depended on too much to be something he really isn't. In Calgary he's considered a top 6 player and that isn't working out. On any team that's going to trade for him, he needs to be a third or MAYBE second line player to be effective. He needs to go and the Flames need to benefit from him long term.
