I like Stone so far
This guy seems way more physical than I was expecting. Very few stupid mistakes and 2 assists so far. Awesome pick up Tre. Oh and please keep Wideman out, thanks.
Can't believe we might have a legit #4 D here for so cheap.

Yes, the 2 new additions are better than Wideman.

For a 3rd rounder this is so far looking like a steal for Tre. Exactly the kind of player needed for that #4 spot, and it's incredibly refreshing not to have to count on one "Wideman goal" against per game. Really hoping we can find a way to keep him after the expansion draft.

Well spoken guy too. The key to his game will be to not hit any refs. So far, so good

He will be 27 entering next season, entering what should be his prime years. I hope the Flames can sign him. If they do, the top 4 will be rock solid and there will be youth knocking at the door for the 5-6 spots.

Seems like things have been more steady on the back end for sure. I'm sure i'm reading way too much into a couple games but this team feels a little tougher the last couple games.

He's been exactly what I've wanted for this team for months. So glad Treliving acquired him.

He's been fine but I reserve judgement. Lots of players do well right after a trade, then slide into their normal play.

So far it looks like a cheeky super low key steal. The bar hasn't been set super high by the other depth d men this year though.

I was always unimpressed by Stone over the years as a Coyote. What I like about him as a Flame so far tho is that he doesn't seem to compound his mistakes. The times when he has bumbled the puck or failed to make the right play, he doesn't seem to panic and stays with the play and generally makes up for his initial error. It's the exact opposite of Wideman who would make a mistake and then compound it even worse. He's been a nice addition and will be nice piece going forward if he can remain invisible on the second pairing.

If he continues decent play it will be interesting to see what a new contract would look like. Really hope they don't overpay.

I think a 3 X 3 or 3.25 would be perfect. Basically replace Engelland long term with Stone both in terms of cap hit and what you're expecting from him defensively (added bonus if he can regain his offense)

Believe he's making $4 mil now, so I doubt he'll sign for $3 or $3.25 mil.

You would have to think that there are still some lingering effects from that knee injury. He will now have a full off-season to train instead of rehab. If we're fortunate enough to sign him after the expansion draft I think we will be getting a much better player than we'll see this season.

He also went from being a mid 30 point two way D-man to a guy that has 11 points at the 3/4 mark of the season. He'll likely need to take a haircut regardless. Whether that's a million dollar hair cut or only a 250K one is yet to be seen. If he has a strong finish to the regular season and the post season, he may end up being worth the $4 mil again.

I don't think there's any way Stone signs for less than 4 unless it's an 8 year deal...I would love it if he did sign for 3 years at 4 mill. He's exactly what this team needs and it would be great if he was signed to an extension and Treliving made some kind of deal with Vegas to protect him and pick up Stajan or Bouma. A dream scenario would be if Vegas signs Engelland before the expansion draft and that counted as their pick from the Flames.

Loving this guy so far and how calm he seems ....as well as how much he reminds me of a past fave Sarich....steady and picks his spots well as to when to be physical in front of the net.
Like the ties from the past as to being past captain of the hitmen

I think he signs for under 4.
He struggled since the knee injury and won't want to risk another one if he signs a one year $4 Mill show me contract.
He'll re-sign in Calgary for 3 years at $3.5 per.

He has been very steady, as long as he keeps his game simple and doesn't try to do too much, he be a great compliment to Brodie. Every defenseman is going to make mistakes, so far Stone seems to keep his position after he makes the initial mistake and doesn't get running around.
I doubt he signs for anything over $4m. Just because he was making $4m doesn't mean he automatically has earned another contract at over $4m. With the cap supposedly staying flat I doubt he gets a raise on the open market either.
