PP/PK discussion (update 12th/11th) - now with PP snek
It doesn't get any worse than that.. Management must notice this.
What is the solution? All of us think fire Dave Cameron but that doesn't seem to be happening, why not?
GG was brought in to fix special teams, epic fail..
This is beyond frustrating. I'm not sure if we've ever been 30th in both categories before. Quite an accomplishment.

Just copy another teams power play. Any team. It can only be an improvement.

If you're not gonna fire Cameron at least have him and Gelinas trade places or something. Anything to get that man away from the PP.

Cameron was an epic mistake from the start. What made the organization think this guy was the answer? I think GG is a good coach but he needs much better assistants.

Do that.

Eh. Apparently that's acceptable to Brad Treliving.
Unheard of for a cap-spending team. You'd think heads should roll but they won't.

Surely a head coach knows how to run a powerplay and can put his foot down on the matter. If the PP sucks, it isn't just Cameron.

They were bad at special teams last year. Far too much focus on the coaches IMO.

yeah there was nothing at all to recommend him to the position. he's been called ottawa's worst coach in franchise history by sens fans, and i've never seen a powerplay that actively harms a team so much. iirc gg said he wanted him because he had coached an nhl team before and that was apparently important to him.
just a complete disaster. can only pray they sack him or rotate him out soon

No offence to Stajan but why was he the only forward on a 5 on 3 against? And then healthy scratch Wideman (for his defensive game) is one of the three as well?
And no shot Brodie is on the pp? While Hamilton watches from the bench?
Does that seem like setting yourself up for success?

30th in PP, 30th in PK, what to do?
Go for 30th in the league standing by the end of the season, that's pretty obvious.....

Some of the blame falls on the players and thier lack of execution. Tonight I saw players thinking too much and trying to make the perfect play or pass on the PP. Get more pucks on the net and fight for rebounds.
Tkachuk does his best by getting in front of the goalie and we need more players doing that.

Coaching plays a role in this but really this isn't a very good hockey team. Lots of undisciplined, one dimensional players. IMO this team is bottom 5 talented team in the NHL and I don't think I am going out on a limb here as their record over the last two 1.2 seasons kind of confirms it.

####. This "cap spending crap" people are trouncing out to justify their emotional outrage at hiw the season is going. Does anyone actually believe that the fact we are a cap spending team this year means that management views this team as a finished product or that we are already in this core's prime?
Owners were willing to let Tree over spend on veterans during the rebuild, and now we are hitting the phase where our young core are getting paid now for what will hopefully be more productive years in the future.
I'm disappointed in the season too, but honest to god, this cap spending team crap and the implications many are trying to associate with it makes it seem like we don't even understand our own team.

Then it's on the GM? It's his job to give the coaches the tools to do the job.
