Default 2016 LPGA, PGA- Brooke Henderson Graham De Laet, Ames and Others

Dedicating this thread this year to Graham De Laet for his support for the Flames. Stephen Ames, as a former Calgarian, also gets mention.

I suspect both will win this year on their respective tours.

SPEAKING OF WHICH.......

De Laet looking like he will be in the final pairing tomorrow. Really chunked it around today but has caught fire on the back nine. I have no idea how a guy can miss a 6 foot birdie putt yet then go and drain a 10 foot par save on the next hole. If he can keep that up he'll have a good shot at winning tomorrow.

Sold his house about a year ago IIRC...no idea where or if he relocated however.

he is in Vancouver according to an article I read somewhere. It said he and his wife split up as well.

In any event, De Laet with 2 3-Putts on his front nine and is 3 over through 9. He is still T-3 though with a large group at T-3. Way ahead of the field statistically on Greens in Regulation today, so if he gets his putter sorted out at the turn he can still turn this into a top 2 or 3 finish.

Only 2 shots back of the leader, De Laet misses a 4 footer for birdie on the par 5.

If history holds, he'll knock down a bomb to save par on the next hole and then go on a birdie/eagle run to finish.

Ah damn, that's too bad. I used to talk to him and his wife all the time back in the day and they seemed like the happiest couple in the world.

De Laet finishes with no birdies on the day. I'm not sure if it was his iron play that let him down or the putter, or both. He hit a number of fairways with good approach position but was not able to get it close.

When he did he missed the putts.

In any event he finishes T-5. HOWEVER, in an interesting twist, the player in 4th is an amateur, so De Laet will get money for T-4. That should be a $35K-$40K swing in his favour.

He looks awful around the greens, if he can find some confidence in his putter could have a great year.

he tends to have his worst round on sundays, hope he can get past that as he is such a good ball striker and he should have won on tour already. great beard too.

Looking at the stats he ranks low on both putting and approaches from 125-150.

Basically he's no more accurate from 125 than he is from 175. What should be his scoring zone just isn't getting him close enough to do so.

Ames in 4th with 1 hole left on the Champions Tour. Won't climb up to 3rd but should hopefully stave off a bundle of players who are T-5th.

Solid tourney for him and he also shoots up into the top 15 in Schwab Cup points as well.

Brooke Henderson - LPGA
Alena Sharpe - LPGA

DaLaet is having a pretty good Shell Open so far. I really hope that he wins this week so that he can go to the Masters Tournament.

Was at the Hoiston Golf Club yesterday for the final round. Was a lot of fun, was cheering hard for DaLaet. It was my first live golf experience and it was incredible seeing the pros play live, the talent level they have is insane.

Did DeLaet acknowledge your cheering or was he completely focused on blocking the crowd out?

Some golfers do and some don't so i'm curious.

He was pretty locked in, got a cap tip for yelling "Go Flames" though. Fowler and Spieth seemed to acknowledge the fans quite a bit, DJ was completely focused.

Brooke Henderson with another top 10 this week.

She is putting together one of the most dominant sporting years ever by a Canadian. She isn't getting the attention she deserves.

8 tournaments this year. 7 top-10 finishes.
