Its funny, because I'm re reading the Legacy series where Jacen Solo goes bad, and now whenever I read about him I see Kylo Ren.
The old EU wasn't great, there were a lot of bad characters and badly written books. There were interdimensional meat monsters, a super weapon flurry each either bigger or more destructive then the last. I mean hey pfft you can blow up a planet with that thing? We can blow up a solar system with this thing.
But after reading the new Expanded universe books. The Lords of the Sith buddy cop story with Vader and Palpatine, the Aftermath series and others, and what stands out to me is this.
When they dumped the old EU they lost really good writers and replaced them with really poor writers. the Aftermath series has been so badly written that its hard to stay interested even though the last one is out I think today. The Sith Lords book was just badly written.
Its a shame because to me, not one of the new EU books has really been good.
With the legends EU, there was a ton of bad. But when they got it right, like the Bane Trilogy, or the books that took place between AOTC and ROTS they really got it right.

I'm enjoying A New Dawn right now (Kanan and Hera), Lords of the Sith was just Ok, they needed more Sith and less Cham Syndulla and his band of Twi'leks.
Bloodlines was decent, as was Ahsoka. Tarkin was kinda boring.
My favorite was probably Dark Disciple. Haven't read any of the Aftermath series yet.
The rebels decided to extricate Fulcrum after they learned that the last Fulcrum message had been intercepted by Imperial Intelligence. So they staged a stolen shuttle incident to get Ezra to get Kallus to defect.
Thrawn interceded and he was joined by Col Yularen who was an Admiral on Anakin's ship in the Clone Wars and now is the head of Imperial Intelligence. He also trained Kallus.
The rebels learned that Thrawn had narrowed down the location of the hidden rebel base so Ezra Chopper and AP-5 decided to steal the clearance codes so Kanaan and Cody could fly a shuttle onto Thrawn's ship and rescue them.
In the end, Kallus modified the Admirals map so that the Rebel planet wasn't there and a decoy planet was put in its place.
During this Kallus used a Lt List a young eager for glory officer to try to implicate Governor Price as Falcon, but in the end Kallus threw List under the bus.
As Ezra escaped they asked Kallus to go, but he felt safe in his plane and felt that he could do more good staying with and spying on the Imperials.
At the end of the episode Thrawn recognized the paint job on Ezra's helmet as the art work of Sabrine Wren, he also quickly unwrapped Kallus' deception and deemed that Fulcrum would be more useful to the Empire then Kallus ever was.
So logically the Empire is going to go after Sabine and Mandalore.
Kallus has been exposed as the traitor he just doesn't know it yet.
It was nice to see Yularen again, its just sad that he is an Imperial
Some nice touches in this episode
The assasin droids that Thrawn was fighting looked a lot like the Dark Trooper Phase 2's.
The flag ship of Thrawn fleet was the Chimera which goes back to the EU Thrawn series.
Overall a good episode.

Oh, he's the guy that always voices the intros for Clone Wars? Also this guy in ANH?
I thought it was a good episode, the stage is being set for a big finale.

My son and I loved that episode last night. Why can't they all be like that? What I like is not knowing for sure if the series will end (it won't yet) which means that any character could die (they all kind of have to, or disappear) at any time. It makes for tense watching.
The fact that this series is going to be done in the next couple or few years and that they are already working on a 3rd cartoon makes me wonder when (where in the time line?) that one will be?
Also, there has been mention of a live action Star Wars show a la "Marvel's Agents of Shield". I hope that gets made. I honestly can't get enough Star Wars!

the original idea for a live action Star Wars show would be like the video game 1313 which would be a smuggler story which could be interesting.
That way they would be able to like Shield create a new universe in a universe where they wouldn't need a Vader or Palpatine or even a Boba Fett.

I always wondered what those pen thingies were for on their uniforms, now I know!

I actually really loved the code cylinder stuff, I thought that was a nice bit of detail. Especially when you have a guy like Thrawn running around with a bunch of them.
Somehow I think poor Lyst had to be executed anyways to keep up the illusion that Kallus' scheme had worked. I mean this is the Empire run by a Sith Lord, the necessary death of a eager Lt. to bring down the rebellion is a cost they're willing to pay.

But the real question is when will Star Wars: Rivals start airing?

Genevieve O'Reilly voicing Mon Mothma is the second actor from Rogue one to step in and do a voice role, she also was in Revenge of the Sith.
We finally saw what the Tie Defender can do, we've never seen it on screen, but everyone who ever played Tie Fighter remembers being incredibly happy to be assigned to that Fighter after playing most of the game in unshielded Tie and Tie Interceptors.
The animation is really taking steps forward. The nova blowing up and damaging the star destroyers was stunning to look at.
We saw again that Thrawn is just a step ahead of everyone else. The failure is with the people carrying out his plans.
The scene at the end with the Rebels jumping in was awesome to watch.
Even though I'm a supporter of the Empire

That was a great episode, really show cased the power of the Y-Wings boming. OP Tie Defenders, if only there was a ship the Rebels had that could deal with them...
The ending of that episode was great, they've done such a good job with this show. That really was a not so subtle addition to the canon and I love that they posses the ability to do that.
Preview for next weeks episode:
Spoiler!
Edit: Just took a look at the wiki and it appears there are only three weeks left in the season. March 18th "Twin Suns" and March 25th "Zero Hour" (double episode finale).
I think Twin Suns is pretty safe to be the showdown between Maul and Obi-Wan, Zero Hour could tie into this somehow? Or it will be solely about the birth of the Rebellion versus Thrawn? Either way I am excited that big things are on the horizon, but sad that the season is almost done.

My body is ready. I haven't been this excited about a cartoon since The Transformers: The Movie came out.
