Thats the part where it always seems to break down for me in my mind. I like Coutinho but thats a crazy amount of money, but if we dont need it then why sell?
The money is nice and all but if it doesnt help you replace what Coutinho brings on the field then what good is it?
I just hate the primadonna attitudes. "I want to go and play for Barca!!"
Yeah, I dont doubt it, Barca is a much better than Liverpool at the moment, Spain is much nicer than England, the Spanish League is a lot easier than the PL, theres lots of positives.

I agree and it really is distasteful. The players are always thrilled to sign for 5 years (or whatever) for hundreds of thousands a week and everything is good. Then a club like Barca or even English clubs like City or Chelsea are willing to pay insane amounts for these guys and suddenly they're unsettled. Its shameful, really.
There is a part of me hoping that Liverpool does this though. I just know if Barca offers Levy that kind of money for Eriksen that there's a good chance he'll take it!

His arguments are terrible.
"They won't be particularly weaker as a team."
"I can't believe people are still going on about the importance of being in fourth place for attracting / keeping new players"
Basically saying that CL football has no bearing on attracting/keeping players?

He's making the argument than in Klopp's system, in the outline given by Klopp, that he won't. Also that he's not a huge upgrade on what they have
in terms of fourth place, I don't think it is at this point, Chelsea made signings last summer so did United

that's harsh on Swansea, they have actually played pretty well today. Just completely imploded at the end ... not that I'm going to complain

Along with the new additions you would have hoped for this year that Pogba,
Mkhitaryan and Martial would be better. They are all three looking very good.

Yeah Man U just exploded there.. Really tight game and I thought Swansea were in it until they made the changes. Then they were just carved apart. Matic continues to look amazing for Man U, added benefit of freeing up Pogba.

that has to sting for West Ham. Down to 10 men after only 33 minutes and then down 0-2, but Chicharito tied it with two goals. Now Charlie Austin scores the winner for Southampton in injury time.

Coutinho is the player they need right now. Liverpool is going to be a 3-2 type team rather than playing for the cleansheets. Right now the front 3 are creating all kinds of chances in their own but the midfield is pretty disjointed.
There's only so much they can hope from forcing errors on high presses and long balls.

Playing with a back 3 really seems to be becoming a popular tatic. I don't recall ever seeing so many teams use it.

It can give you a lot more flexibility if you've got the right group to do it with.
What makes it tougher is when you have to shoehorn players out of position into that back 3 CB and then it starts to fall apart because you have to cover for injuries and suspensions and other competitions, how many CBs does one team want to maintain on their roster?

Like playing Mame Diouf as RB ? To be fair he's been decent at it. exposed a bit today but I think he's got a bit to offer (pace, work rate) against most teams not named arsenal, man city, etc. He doesn't look completely lost, and is great moving forward. Tough thing about 3 at the back is that the 3 defenders have to be rigid and disciplined, and not pulled out of shape. Playing a false 9 is a good bet against it.

Nice debut for Andy Robertson for Liverpool today. He used to play for my team in Scotland (Dundee United) and it's great to see him do well. His crosses from the left wing will set up loads of goals.

I thought he was one of the best on the pitch. He'll be first choice in no time if he keeps putting in shifts like that.

City might be activating Messi's €300M release clause.
