Haha between most of us we could make a tour guide bus ala Hollywood stars style. Except much creepier and not as interesting.

I'm pretty sure Carey Price trains here in the summers. I know he used to 2 or 3 years ago for sure, not sure if he's still here but I'd imagine he is.

I was lucky enough to attend a Flames Alumni dinner in a capacity a year ago. Seems like a lot of former NHL guys live here. Charlie Simmer lives here as well if I recall correctly. Can confirm the alumni list is huge, and there's many players that live here/do business here often, as the posters before me have pointed out.

I see him at Tommyfields in Seton a lot too. He lives one street over from me. Actually seems like a decent guy off the ice (from my eavesdropping on his conversations).

He is, even in school he was always a friendly person. I'd really love him on the Flames if he would just play defence. Off the ice he's a great guy

Well, he most certainly did (this was summer 2013). Lived down in Altadore. Nice house!

Could be wrong, but I thought Werenka was /is a lawyer in Calgary.

Claude Vilgrain and Kevin Haller live here as well.

Friken former oilers still stink up our city.

Dave Semenko lives in Renfew

Pat Hughes lives in Beddington

I think Grant Fuhr still lives here as well.

Anybody remember Ron Stern's restaurant on MacLeod Trail called Lucianos? Italian themed restaurant across from the Carriage House Hotel.

Just seeing this list brings back some memories!

On a side note I think YYC was always a good place for former players to retire to as the taxes in Alberta where generally lower than other parts of Canada.

Other factors that may come into play is

1) Strong business community/ ties to energy sector which can lead to other opportunities post playing career

2) Existing network of NHL players for assistance, support, mentoring etc

3) A lot of players who do live here are western Canadian boys from interior BC, Alberta, SK, MB etc. It can always be a good base for economic activity as well

In any event for its size, Calgary has plenty of former players who live here.
